Using 1866MHz RAM on Crosshair V Formula

Hey, my friend bought two 4GB 1866MHz sticks of RAM and he's been trying to get it to work on his motherboard but his system either doesn't post, hangs at the welcome screen or BSOD's. He's changed the settings in the BIOS and adjusted the voltages. What is he doing wrong?

I've got 4x4Gb (16Gb) Crucial Ballistix Elite @1833 in mine an I have no problems running at the full speed.....

You could try looking at the manufacturers site for RAMs timings and setting them specifically in the BIOS?

@WasStoNed: Could you plz post your Settings for 4x4GB Memory? I try to get my 16GB DDR1600 running, but prime fails when at 1600Mhz, 1333Mhz works :-(

    thanks!

    He has an AMD 8150, (2x4)8GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 RAM at 1866 MHz, CH5, 2x AMD 6950's
Every time he adjusts the timings, he gets BSOD's. So he can't get his RAM up to the default speed

Add DRAM voltage in small increments until stability is achieved.
You may need to increase the CPU/NB voltage, start out with 1.30v.
Also, I suggest that you run memtest on each stick individually.
