Quite upset to see 500s already being pumped out. Seems nVidia simply wanted to pump out new cards to match the 6k series release by ATI. I knew my 480s wouldn't be top line for ever but not even two months and they already released a new line? Seems like nVidia is the new Apple.

What's the price on this card? Or is that an undisclosed amount?

EDIT: Just checked on newegg.com $560 for an extra 32 cuda cores. Eh. ASUS have an upgrade policy?

I'm not sure I'd consider it a new line despite what Nvidia has decided to name it. This is basically the card that the 480 should have been. Both are good cards and pretty similar. Consider it a 490 or a 480+ (kinda like the two different 8800GT's)

Yeah. Though my point is proven in them calling it a GTX580 just to call it a GTX580 and make it seem like it's the new hot stuff. In theory, it very well is with more CUDA cores but it doesn't deserve the 500 title. 485/490 is more like it.

And to keep my annoyance down, I simply keep in mind that hardware is beating out software at the moment it seems and either way, my system is handling it fine.

Yep, my desktop still has 3 8800GTX's in it. Even they do just fine but I'd like to swap them out for a single card and cut down on my power consumption.

Hi guys I just wanted to pop in and say "thank you" to ASUS for doing the giveaway. I was the lucky winner of the 580GTX and can't wait to get it cranking out some eye candy and folding@home results.

Got the email today saying that it will be in the mail this week. Can't wait.

The GTX580 is just WOW! I could not be happier with the performance in games and the 16,000+ points per day in folding@home is awesome. Finally I can play crysis on Ultra settings and have not stutter what so ever.
