[SOLVED] G751JY Win10 issue: when you try to resume from Sleep mode it will reboot

hexaae
Level 12
So here is the problem here:
when I put my G751JY into sleep mode and then try to resume the system will simply reboot, no BSOD or other errors, just reboot. Then I'll find in the Reliability monitor that "Windows has been shut down incorrectly"...
The reboot is so fast and immediate I didn't notice at the beginngin (I've SSD only) the OS crashed.

Still immature drivers or bugs in Windows 10? Can other confirm?

Workaround ATM: set "Allow hybrid sleep". This will resume, but sleep process will be slower of course.

the power saving is minimal for any sleep mode and hibernate just uses disk space,I disabled hibernate and dont use any sleep mode.

Can others confirm if with Win10 resume from Sleep == system reboot because of buggy drivers with ASUS G751JY?

In case you don't have issues, can you please dump me your installed drivers following this simple guide (just a command from admin prompt): https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee851682.aspx ? Thank you

Over mine its OK, dont use suspend but for testing, no issues. find in the link the driver list. Hope you find the problem.

Are you sure it's not a reboot when you resume? Notice that there is no BSOD or whatsoever. Just a hard-reset/cold reboot. Keep some windows open before going in Sleep mode to verify the desktop is the same...
Be also sure Suspension for you is set to: Allow hybrid suspension: DEACTIVATED both (see example pic http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet?DOCID=emr_na-c03383935-11/c03392536.jpg )

Please can you use this format to generate the log file in CSV format:

driverquery /v /fo csv > filenamewithpath_drvlist.csv

Thank you

I am running a GL551JW and I am having the exact same issue after the upgrade to Win10.
I have a feeling our issues are very similar ones.
Once you have this figured out, please let me know! Being on a hard drive, boot times are very slow and I've already lost so much work due to this.

Ok, tried everything.... resinstalling all 8.1 drivers on the ASUS website + Win 10 new one. Still the same.
The bug is confirmed at this point.
G751JY has some serious issue to restore from Sleep mode (with Sleep mode set to Hybrid: OFF) and Win 10 will simply crash and reboot directly, no BSOD or black screen freeze.

When tested left some windows open, and like it should it work good resuming, did not ask for password and windows are still opened.

Be also sure Suspension (sleep mode) for you is set to: Allow hybrid suspension: DEACTIVATED (OFF) both (see example pic http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet?DOCID=emr_na-c03383935-11/c03392536.jpg )
With hybrid sleep ON it works... but it's not a valid workaround.

There are very few G751JY + Win10 owners or many users simply don't use Sleep mode?
Looks like a Win 10 vs BIOS issue.

Test:
0. BIOS 208
1. leave some windows open on your desktop (e.g. notepad)
2. be sure the Allow hybrid sleep is set to OFF http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet?DOCID=emr_na-c03383935-11/c03392536.jpg
3. from Start menu select Sleep

Unexpected:
The system on resume (e.g. mouse move, or press any key...) will perform a cold reboot, won't resume. Windows 10 Reliability monitor will log an unexpected system shutdown error.
