Hello all.
What is the likelihood of the GPU going on a G55vw?
I have used many different GFORCE drivers for the 660m windows 10 64bit.
But still I get the black screen loop and need to go in in safe mode to remove and try again ?
I have stripped the laptop and cleaned the CPU & GPU then applied coolermaster E1 thermal compound. Cleaned out the fans.. tested the ram and ram slots.
Try a clean install of the Nvidia Driver , clean install will uninstall the NVidia drivers . There should be an option to a clean install , what does it say in device manager is the gpu listed? http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/92218
Disable fast boot. Disable secure boot. Enable CSM. Problem solved. At least for me. Installing the Geforce drivers will result in a black screen after boot if you're using UEFI boot. Enable legacy boot and the problem goes away. Seems that Asus borked the UEFI firmware for the GPU.
Asus ROG G55VW: CPU: i7 3630QM GFX: Geforce GTX660M with 2GB ram RAM: 2x8Gb 2133MHz Kingston HyperX Impact (surprisingly the G55VW uses the 2133 X.M.P. profile) Storage: RAID0 with 2x 256Gb Crucial SSDs (both msata, one in a sata adapter) OS: Windows 10 x64
