Stratospheric price hike on Maximus VII?!

Was considering upgrading my Hero vi to the vii because i recently built a pc for my friend using the hero vii and it performs/OC's better than my Vi.Much to my surprise, the prices have skyrocketed on the vii! People are trying to sell them for 5, 6, 7, even $800 online! I saw a Maximus vii formula for $1500! Aaaahhh! Either that or they're sold out. I checked Amazon.. Crazy prices! Tiger direct $800! Newegg has them listed as $219 but out of stock. Any idea what's up with these ludicrous price jumps? Even the new Viii's are moderately priced in the $200 range. Although they use different dimms and lga sockets...

Sounds like some people may be trying to sell there boards at a very high price knowing that the Z97 chipset will soon be discontinued. If you really want this instead of the new Z170 platform just keep checking online, I sold one a few months back for $100.00

Yeah I posted the maximus vii formula in your other thread thinking they still might be available but with the maximus VIII out it's probably discontinued and that's why people jacked up the prices.

Your maximus vi hero will get the 4790k to 4.8GHz-4.9GHz with your new cooler being the 4790k is 4.0GHz stock and boosts to 4.4GHz. I bet the sabertooth would have no problem getting the 4790k to 4.8Ghz-4.9GHz too it's just not an ROG board. You could try the 4790k in both motherboards and see which one you like better.

True that! Bummer that the vii is being discontinued. Id go for the viii but that would require buying all new components for it. Ive still managed to find the hero vi for sale at typical prices, but that vii is crazy expensive everywhere. I wish i woulda bought one sooner. That hero 7 really is a sexy board.
