Q-Code 40 on Crosshair V Formula Z

just installed 2 fans and on powering up that what I got, code 40, and no it's not AO. also there's no waking up from sleep. any idea why this would be? thx

so, after a while AA showed, but on powering up again it's 40

Qcode 40 is not an error. It is a code indicating that the system is waking up from S4 sleep state.

aware it's not an error, but rig wasn't asleep. why would adding 2 fans result in this?. never had a 40 before now:confused:

I had the same problem, it was the fast boot in windows 10, that make something like a suspension when you turn off your pc. but with a reboot you should get AA code again, try it for yourself.
To disable fast boot follow this guide, its spanish but you can google for another: h t t p : //windowsespanol.about .com/od/OptimizaWindows/ss/Inicio-Rapido-Windows10.htm

yeah, got AA on reboot, but also got AE legacy boot event during. dunno what that's all about:confused:

Are you tried disabling fast startup in windows 10? that fixed it for me

saw fast in the BIOS, but not sure I wanna mess with it, but if i don't 40 remains, and if I do my luck something ELSE 'll go wrong

dude, forget the bios, isnt fast boot, its fast startup. follow this link, its under windows.
