Win x64 will not install on Crosshair V

I can not get Win7 x64 to install on my stystem. It BSOD's just after "windows in loading files". This is a clean install. I have no problem getting x32 to install..but...

Im only using two of the four sticks of my Vengence ram (2x4) and the ssd. I was hoping this new bios update would help but I have been sitting on the phone with MS support (on hold) and searching these forums for over an hour with no luck today. I had this same issue in September and just installed x32 waiting for a bios update. Seems like thats not my issue.

using latest bios 1003

Ive tried with just one stick, two sticks (both pairs, mixed ect...) and with all four and the problem is still the same. x32 installs and runs stable but x64 will not get past "...loading files..." It BSOD's at 100%.

I tried installing to both drives individually, no luck with either one.

I tweaked the bios according to the 16G parameters set forth in the sticky.

Im at a loss at this point. Sat on hold with MS for 2hrs to have them tell me someone would look at it and call me tomorrow...

help?

can you install on otther hdd? maybe driver problem for ssd. did you check for firmware update for ssd? secure erase before install.

Not sure how helpful this is going to be but I remember getting that problem when trying to reinstall x64. I found it to be a problem with the Speedfan driver, it didn't seem to like certain settings enabled in the software.

Could that possibly be an issue?

I don't know if this is an issue. With a clean install would this driver somehow be installed through the BIOS?

I don't think this would be an issue because I have tried with a clean install to both drives. Does Speedfan come with the BIOS?

Hello and welcome

What are your SATA settings in BIOS? Did you set to AHCI?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I will check my SATA settings in BIOS later today. Ive tried installing on both the hdd and the sdd alone. Ive tried bare bones with just one stick and one drive hooked up, no luck. As I said the part that is perplexing me is why x32 will install and run no problem by x64 will not even install.

This was a completely clean install. Both drives were securely written over with all 0's before I tried to install x64.

Thats about where i am at this point Nemesis. But I had the local computer guy, "Mad Mike", use his copy and it didn't work either. After 3+ hours of installing with his version of Windows7x64 was still "working" so I gave up.

SATA is set to ACHI, has been the whole time.

MS "Tier 2" guy is going to call me today they said...after they do some "research". Ill post if we get it fixed.

Ill try anything at this point so keep the suggestions coming if you have them.

I'm leaning towards a memory issue, is different set available for your x64 installation?
