Angry Crosshair V Formula RAM PROBLEM

I just bought a Crosshair V Formula and I'm having issues with the RAM. I'm running 4x2GB 1333 DIMMs but my mobo keeps
telling me that I have only 4GB of RAM

Windows boots up normally and it says that my total RAM is 8GB but I can only use 3,96GB

If I run 2x2GB mobo says that I have only 2GB of RAM........

I've updated my BIOS to the latest version.
I've also tried with different GPU but nothing seems to help...

And also my boot device LED is constantly red.

    My specs:
    -C5F
    -Phenom II X6 1055T
    -A-Data DDR3 4x2GB 1333MHz
    -650W Power Supply
    -Radeon 6850 1GB
    -Windows booting from SSD

    And your OS is?

Make sure you have pushed your sticks or ram firmly into the slots. I had this very issue yesterday morning on a build. Just needed a firm press of the ram stick to get it to seat correctly. Let us hope your issue is as simple to fix.

    Welcome

    Welcome
OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I think I've pushed the ram sticks correctly because in the Tool\ASUS SPD Information it shows that I have 2GB in every slot. Also Extreme Tweaker\GPU.DIMM Post shows 4 DIMMs.

Thanks mate - felt it best to mention that early because sometimes it is the most simple things that we overlook.

Have you run memtest yet? If so what was the outcome?

I've just completed memtest and the results are surprising. Hundreds of errors
On the day before yesterday these very same sticks were working perfectly on my previous mobo (ASUS M4A87TD/USB3)

That's why I still can't believe that these sticks are causing these problems...
BUT if they are, I'm glad that I know whats causing all this...

Tomorrow I'm going to buy new sticks and I post here when I know if it helped.

Do you have another board handy?

If yes run memset again on that board. It could be your slots are corrupted not your ram.

    Cheers

i really hope asus goes back to making the ram slots the proper way instead of the new half-snap things. that was a really dumb idea.

LOL they went that route because the old versions were catching on the graphic cards in the first PCIe slots. Just means you have to be extra careful when you line up your ram. Oh and give them a firm press into place.
