Problem w/ Crosshair V

Hi. I got a problem. Some times when i turn on my pc, my mouse and keyboard don't work. this has been happening in the past 2 weeks or so. Normally, the numlock is auto-enabled. when this happens, it isn't and when i press a key it turns on then back off, but both are still unresponsive. This is fixed by rebooting, but that's just a temp fix. Any idea as to what is causing this and how i can fix?

thanks

Have you set any non-standard settings in the BIOS or are you overclocking? Have you tried a different USB port?
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

Yea, i tried different ports, not overclocking and no settings changed besides the Asmedia thing, which was a long time before this issue 🙂

update + bump.
I updated bios from 0705 to 1102 doing each update in order one after the other, still have that problem. So we can rule out the Bios.. Any ideas?

It could be 1 of 3 problems that I can see.
1) Bad Setting in Bios. Did you set up USB in the BIOS or Change Settings?
2) Bad Chip...Need to RMA if it is.
3) If the USB works till you get to Windows then you need to update the Driver...This is what I'm thinking it is.

well USB seems to work, I think I'll check the USB driver, as mine may be an older, bugged driver. RMA? No idea, This is my 2nd board, and still kinda new. First 1 was ROA and had i brought it back to the store, and they ordered me a new one. Where can I check the USB driver version I have? And nope, Bios is all stock, with Asmedia disabled.

It would be in the Device Manager, The way I did it was get a Driver Update program like Driver Genie and let it go through your system and update all of your drivers. I found that even though I got what I thought was the latest they were still way out of date.

for driver update i can skip to latest one right?

I downloaded Asmedia USB3.0 Controller Driver V1.14.1.0 for Windows XP/Vista/7 32bit & 64bit from the Asus site, not sure if it will help.
