Versatile and plentiful USB ports
You’ll find a pair of onboard USB4 ports on the ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi motherboard, and with these versatile, high-bandwidth ports, the sky is the limit. The headlining feature of USB4 is up to 40 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth, perfect for blazing-fast connections to external storage drives.
Through USB4 ports, you can also connect a display with a maximum resolution of 8K@30Hz as specified in DisplayPort 1.4. Alternatively, you can connect multiple displays and devices to one USB4 port via daisy-chaining. Through one cable, you could connect two displays and three devices, such as a mouse, keyboard, or USB headset, giving you an overall setup that’s neater and tidier.
The dual USB4 ports might be the star attractions on the ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi’s rear I/O panel, but they're far from the only ones. You’ll also find a USB 10Gbps Type-C port that can deliver up to 30W of Power Delivery 3.0. It’s capable of outputting at multiple voltage levels depending on the supported specifications of the device you connect, ensuring rapid and reliable power delivery for just about anything you plug in.
The ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi also empowers you to hook up a high-bandwidth, versatile USB port conveniently at the front panel of your case. The header supports a USB 20Gbps port that’ll give you high-speed connectivity.
For plugging in the rest of your battlestation, you’ll find plentiful USB Type-A ports on the rear panel — five USB 10Gbps Type-A ports and four USB 5Gbps Type-A ports, to be exact. One is equipped for USB BIOS Flashback™, which gives you a way to update the UEFI even if you don’t have a CPU and RAM installed. All you’ll need is standby power, a USB flash drive, and the correct filename for the update. You may never need BIOS Flashback, but having it available gives you considerable peace of mind.
Build that big storage array
Across the board, today’s PC users need lots of fast storage. Game installation sizes aren’t getting any smaller, especially for AAA releases. AI workflows start with large datasets, and folks who spend time behind a camera need somewhere to store all those high-resolution assets.
