Gallery: Poseidon Platinum GTX 780 Unboxing
The Poseidon Platinum GTX 780 and MARS 760 are ROG's two latest graphics cards. With entirely new and custom designs, focused on diversifying the approach to high performance gaming graphics. We've got our hands on a boxed Poseidon to give you an unboxing tour and overview of the new design below.
First up the box. There's also a GTX 770 version too with the same ROG hardware except for the Nvidia chip.
Opening the box and we get to see the card through a small window. Hi there!
Inside the card is safely packed in thick foam. On top and adjacent lies the accessories.
They include a speed setup guide, driver disc, ROG case badge and PCI-Express adapter cable:
Before you install the Poseidon, remove all the protective plastic covering!
Side on we can just about see the aluminum plate that surrounds the copper vapor chamber. The Poseidon is dual slot so fits neatly into any multi-GPU setup.
You'll need both 8-pin and 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors. They are flipped so the clips face upwards, allowing easy clip/unclipping. There's red/green LEDs to let you know if the power is connected correctly.
The two G1/4 connectors are pre-capped to prevent dust/foreign objects from getting in. Simply pop off and attach your desired barbs for watercooling. It's entirely optional: the DirectCU H2O can be air or water cooled.
The backside of the Poseidon gets a metal brace-plate.
Central POSCAPs on the GPU core store power directly overhead for when needed:
DVI-I (adaptable to VGA), DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort make up the rear I/O panel.
The Republic of Gamers logo pulses red when powered.
From the side we can see the fat 10mm heatpipes that aid the air cooling portion of the DirectCU H2O.
And here's the Poseidon itself!
