The Maximus IX Code and Strix GTX 1080 anchor a beautiful enthusiast build

I just put together a sweet PC for a series of upcoming articles that will appear on this site. The build is covered in great detail over at the ASUS Edge Up website, but I couldn't resist sharing a few pictures here, as well. You can probably see why:

In the words of George Takei: Oh my!

The machine is anchored by ROG's Maximus IX Formula motherboard, whose monochromatic palette and streamlined armor set an appropriate tone.

The Strix GeForce GTX 1080 is a perfect match for the aesthetic, especially with synchronized RGB lighting courtesy of Aura Sync. That synchronization also extends to the CableMod WideBeam RGB strips that light up the interior.

Corsair's H100i v2 all-in-one cooler chills the Intel Core i7-7700K CPU well enough to overclock the chip to 5GHz. The Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 DIMMs also come from Corsair, and I love how their chrome heat spreaders reflect the surroundings.

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm paid by the lens flare. Don't miss the Corsair MP500 SSD lurking in the shadows; it serves up 480GB of wicked-fast NVMe storage, and the motherboard's secondary M.2 slot ensures the drive gets plenty of airflow from the front intake fans.

Dual WD Black 6TB hard drives are mounted around the back, because you can never have enough storage—or lens flares, at least according to J.J. Abrams. This angle also gives us a nice view of the beefy Corsair RM1000x PSU and the individually sleeved CableMod ModMesh wiring that connects to all the components.

The tempered glass panels on Corsair's Crystal Series 570X RGB chassis showcase the internals in all their glory. The case is a looker even when empty, but be warned: its see-through skin means everyone can easily judge your cable routing. Odds are they won't do it silently.

ROG's Claymore Core keyboard and Spatha mouse join the Aura Sync party. Even without their matching glow, the fully built system is something to behold.

You'll be seeing more of this killer PC soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out the full build article at the Edge Up website.
