May Monthly Forum Mods Roundup

May 28, 2012 Written by:ROG Article

It's that time of the month again! We've taken some of the most impressive mod updates in May from the ROG modding forum. It's not a definitive list, so be sure to recommend us others if you think we missed some.

1. L3p L4n - Custom Fullcover MARS II waterblock

ROG Forum Thread We've been following L3p's work for a while, and finally his MARS II has got its cover made - shaving a 10kg copper block down to just 1.8kg of copper on the final product. With its black top and red ROG blades, it's looking almost edible (we're salivating) and we can't wait to see it in action! 2. Queen of Blades

ROG Forum Thread We missed this one in April and fo'shame on us because what a paint-job! Double that up with 4-way SLI watercooling and you better wear some jaw protection, before it hits the floor. [gallery include="" size="large" link="file" template="file-gallery" columns="2"]

3. Alluring Black n' Blue

ROG Forum Thread MNPCTech Article From MonsterMawd's CaseModBlog update thread (worth subscribing to!) we noticed this one hidden in this months updates. With the Maximus IV GENE-Z as its backbone, this scratch built watercooled design is exceptionally neat, despite leaving the motherboard and graphics 'bare' on show. 4. Turbo Chicken

ROG Forum Link A more classic mod done in a very clean and coordinated way; Darkcyde has upgraded a Corsair 600T with clear side panel and red innards. Inside is a Rampage IV Formula motherboard with Core i7 3820@4.3GHz and CrossFire HD 7970s. There's a lot more Corsair kit in there and on his desk too, including a matching red ForceGT SSD and red WASD keys on that Corsair keyboard. However it's the subtle watercooling with its black tubing and black PSU cable upgrades that really completes the set though. The only thing left is to get those cards under water as well, Darkcyde! 5. Project: Aquarius

ROG Forum Link With the level of customizations going on with this one, it's more of a scratch build than a case mod! Device Unknown is doing some interesting and novel things with watercooling that are definitely worth a look. And one to keep an eye on: Project 1949

ROG Forum Link It's not everyday you get your hands on an old radio, complete with vacuum tubes and 60 years of dust! It's very early days for this mod, but if the attention to detail on just the LED soldering is anything to go by, we're really looking forward to seeing what happens. Do we need to make a mini-ITX ROG board just to fit in there Cygnitr0n? Get me R&D on the phone NOW! [gallery include="" size="large" link="file" template="file-gallery" columns="2"]
