TBreak Rampage IV Formula Battlefield 3 Edition Review
The Dubai guys over at TBreak have just reviewed the Rampage IV Formula Battlefield 3 Edition motherboard. They dropped in an Intel Core i7-3960X with Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 heatsink, G.Skill 16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, a Zotac GeForce GTX 580 AMP! Edition graphics card, a Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD and a Cooler Master 1200W Silent Pro Gold PSU, then ran it through a battery of tests.
With a score of 4.5 stars out of 5, the TBreak-ers cited great out-of-the-box performance, easy overclocks, 4-way SLI or CrossFireX support and SupremeFX III onboard audio as merits, but criticized the board for only supporting up to 32GB of memory.
All in all the ASUS Rampage IV Formula is an extremely capable X79 motherboard, and as solid an option as any when it comes to high-end performance. I can’t help but feel, though, that part of the price increase is due to the ASUS brand name. Of course, that’s not to say that the 3 years ‘ASUS Replacement Golden Warranty’ doesn’t add value as well.
So if you’re in the market for a serious X79 based gaming rig, the Rampage IV Formula is an easy contender for your money.
