The Pro Gamer series is an increasingly expansive line of affordable motherboards for the entry-level gaming enthusiast, with some bespoke features borrowed from current and previous ROG boards to differentiate it from the standard series ASUS motherboards. These include LANGuard and Intel Gigabit Ethernet, GameFirst II, SupremeFX audio and Sonic Radar II technologies. The latest M.2 and SATA Express support common to 9 series motherboards is also included and there's some special DIGI+ VRM component choices too, although you don't get something the level of ROG's Extreme Engine DIGI+ hardware, legendary BIOS features and tweaking and a bevvy of software to try.

That said, as the name suggests the Z97-Pro Gamer now adds the overclock-enabling Z97 chipset to its repertoire, so you can pair it up with a Pentium G3258 (Anniversary Edition) for some budget OC action well into 4GHz territory.
