ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Maximus VIII Hero Alpha

ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha is built on the solid foundations set in the ROG Maximus VIII Hero, and the most popular motherboard in the ROG Maximus VIII series is back with significant upgrades!  What made the Hero highly desirable was the fact that it simply looked badass, or perhaps it's also the ability to fully exploit the new Z170 platform using an Intel LGA1151 Core i7/i5/i3 processor and Dual DDR4 3733 (OC) memory with Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP). This is all made possible by implementing 5-Way Optimization auto-tuning technology for easy performance boosts, power-savings, ultra-quiet operation or even custom audio/networking settings for games, Pro Clock technology in tandem with TurboV Processing Unit (TPU) turbo-charge the base-clock (BCLK) frequency on your 6th Gen. Intel processor, and Second-generation ASUS T-Topology for superior DDR4 memory overclocking, ensuring time-aligned signal transfer for stability and compatibility (which is not an easy task these days as we are hitting such high speeds for memory). The new Hero Alpha can push memory even further by supporting up to DDR4 3800+ memory.

As you can see, the new Maximus VIII Hero Alpha still looks badass, and even more so now that there are Aura RGB Strip headers.  ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha is the first ever to implement these patented 4-pin Aura RGB-Strip headers (extension cables included) so you can light up your rig or even the room! The Aura lighting-control utility software allows you to not only configure the RGB LED lighting on the motherboard but also the attached RGB strips, there are six lighting modes: static, strobe, breathing, color-cycle, music effects and it can even change colors to indicate CPU temperature.

Apart from the the aesthetics and improved memory speed, there is superior connectivity.  There are now dual NVM Express (NVMe) U.2 sockets (no Hyper Kit required), in addition to the existing M.2 socket (supports both SATA & PCIE SSDs) so you can obtain speeds of up to 32Gbit/s and insane 3-way RAID setups are possbile! There are four SATA 6Gb/s ports, more USB ports, a Thunderbolt 3 capable Type-C port on back panel, 2x2 (2T2R) 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) and Bluetooth V4.1.
