View Full Version : Asus Broked My G751JT And Tries To Sell New Motherboard

Hi,
I will write my issue like daily log.

On 04.13.2018 My G751JT's screen stopped working. I wasn't panicked because everything else was perfect, i mean still working also that was friday noon so i can't send to service for finding the issue because of UPS not working weekend and i must backup all my stuffs, projects before send.

As i mention before everything works perfect except screen, i was using TV as screen via HDMI and i used my laptop for 4 days without any kind of problem.

I have pictures while i used my laptop perfect except screen.

After playing 2 hours I did Stress test both CPU and GPU for 10 minutes. and this is result:

As you can see my laptop was working perfect except screen.
Then I backup my Drives:
73581 you can see date bottom right of screen (barely) i taked this picture on 04.15.2018 on picture 15.04.2018 because i am using metric system on my laptop.

And I want to mention again my laptop works perfect(except screen) all the time.

So i decide to send my laptop for finding the issue if they priced high why i have to repair ? i can buy new monitor or TV so i can use them like screen.

On 04.17.2018 I sent my laptop via UPS without problem UPS Track Number: 1ZW44R056846187675

And That's the REAL PROBLEM STARTS HERE:

Asus Service guy called me and says:

You don't have warranty (ofcourse i know i purchased on 2015 in USA) and continued Your Laptop don't have any kind of life signals. We tried both HDMI and VGA ports it's not working.

I was like What ? and i told him my laptop works perfect before sent.

He told i don't know but your laptop don't have any kind of life signals, it's usually happen when motherboard damaged if you give permission of 3820 TRY we will replace with new motherboard or if you don't accept the price we will send you back.

I was so pissed off something happen to my laptop and he try to sells me new motherboard. so ofc i deny the price and they send my laptop back. on 04.20.2018

I received my laptop back on 04.24.2018 you can check UPS Track Number: 1Z069V2F6800251431

And I checked too my Laptop was DEAD !

And yes something happened in Asus service and my laptop was dead keyboard, power button, rog logo(behind the screen) won't lights up.

I am living in Third World Country ( Turkey ) so i was thinking maybe they did something to my motherboard so they can sell me a new one.

But when i check my laptop's back i saw something weard:

You can see a warranty stickers on my laptop even i don't have warranty. Even I don't have it. So i can't check my laptop's inside if i found missing or broken they will blame me "you open your laptop we know you did something etc."

btw i called Asus Support before i got my laptop back and i told them i have proof my laptop was working perfect except screen and she told me: email them please so i sent pictures and videos with email.

And when i get my laptop back on 04.24.2018 a women called me on Asus Support and she says i saw your pictures and watched your videos, your laptop working except screen and asks me for send my laptop back so, i did it in same day you can see UPS Track Number:1ZW44R056846847943
As you can see they got my laptop on 04.25.2018.

And Today Same women called me and says yes your laptop don't working and we checked video record of Service we will send you to your email.

I asked her can you send 3 days of record so i will know camera records don't touched. She told me: No, we just send when we got your laptop scene.

After I check Video record ( I upload to youtube so i can share with you guys)

YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE MY LAPTOP WORKING PERFECT EXCEPT SCREEN ! WHEN HE PRESS THE HOME BUTTON EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP !

You can see they got my laptop safe. everything works except screen. on 04.18.2018 so something happened or they did something in service and my laptop is dead when he called me 04.20.2018

When I watched first video i saw my laptop was working perfect except screen so i called Asus Support and ask them to Connect to my Support Women.
She says okey she will call you.

When she called me, I asked her "did you watch the videos"
she says "yes"
i told her "So you can see my laptop was working on 04.18.2018 but not working when service guy called me on 04.20.2018. so why the hell happened to my laptop in Asus Service so my laptop was death ? "

She says "keyboards, power button, Rog logo lights up but screen doesn't " I WAS LIKE WHAT ?? WOMEN I SEND MY LAPTOP BECAUSE MY SCREEN DOESN'T WORK

Then she replied yes, now i get it and I will forward to the authorities.

and before ends the phone call she says i will contact with you on wednesday.

Now, dear members. I have every kind of proof for my laptop was working perfect(except screen) before sent to asus service.

If they don't fix my issue. Dude I don't even want free upgrade, repair etc.

I JUST WANT MY LAPTOP BACK LIKE OLD( EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT EXCEPT SCREEN ) I CAN BUY NEW MONITOR AND CONTINUE TO MY LIFE.

I will prepare lawsuit if they don't do anything. I have every kind of proof for my case.

Where are the pictures of how you packed it up for shipment? Usually what can happen is the notebook gets damaged in shipment.

I understood what you said, all I was pointing out is that shipping can be very hazardous to your notebook Usually the original box would be inside another box with serious packing to prevent any jarring around in shipping. You may have a case against the shipper.

What are you talking about Shipment was perfectly safe and fast. Asus Got My Laptop in 21 Hours Safely. As you can see on video when he press the home button everything works except screen.

The rest of us are just users helping other users and we have no contact with Asus other than working with cl-albert

I am talking to cl-Albert since 04.21.2018 everyday even sometimes more than a message per day but sound like this forum only help USA Customers. I hoped some HQ saw this thread and contact with me like Bahz.

Bahz is gone, all we have now is cl-albert and he is USA Based every now and then some Asus tech support guys come in but there the same ones that are on the phones and email. Not really much help at all.

You ask me - BIG YES !
Although you should sue shipment company as well - since you don't know whom and at which point they broke your PC.

PS - when I send my G751JT to Asus labs for the Gsync upgrade, I got my laptop back scratched all over.
Then when I needed to ship it back, I needed to wait 6 times ( which are different days of course ) till the shipment company had the right box for my PC { it's 17 inch for G sake, there are much larger screens out there }
Local Asus didn't believe me the laptop got scratched demanded photos of BEFORE state - and ignore my request for compensation, due to wasting my time waiting 6 different days for the pickup that arrive each time { from the computer lab } with incompatible box size.

Even after a long chat with Bahz, nothing came out of this
He eventually said something nicely like it seems you'd been indeed frack-up by your local Asus. sorry can't help


My lessons

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ASUS PRODUCT AGAIN.
As the 'computer guy' for my family and close friends I told them all my story and my recommendation to them is to STAY AWAY FROM ASUS.
Before any shipment of any product into warranty - film video of its working state and image its cosmetic state from all faces.

I would never buy another ASUS laptop/pc again if your in the uk they dont seem to care im a asus fan always have been spent 6k on laptops for my kids and pcs over the last few years its ok if its working if it needs fixing your screwed u only have to check the net my laptops 8months old 3rd rma to fix what they broke 2rma even sending it back in that state u guys need to sort out your rep before it gets any worse but thxs cl-albert for all your advice and trying to help even though u couldnt help as your in the US .

Yes its sad that Asus support sucks so bad. cl=albert may be on vacation or just busy with other projects. He usually will at least get you in contact with the CL for your area. Your country may have laws that could help you? Asus really just doesn't seem to care or even try to get better with Support and repair.

Done all i can they just don't seem to care asked why my laptop was send to me broken nothing but epic fails at ever turn doesnt inspire me to go get more ASUS products and im a asus fan always have been dont know if to keep it or try and get my cash back.Really in 2 minds atm what to do think i will stick with my 3770k with my 1070 a bit longer and leave the new build another year feel cheated by asus trusted them..Just a shame they build some good laptops/pc then if it breaks and your in the UK fails all the way just feel so let down that they dont care or want to help more just have to hope it comes back fixed in 2 weeks but i wont hold my breath going on the last RMAs.

It’s going to be fixed just have to wait till 14/5 for the part when I can get it from Asus rep dealer in 2-4 working days sent a few emails they don’t want to know just gave me the 30 day to fix your laptop crap as I said I have to wait no matter what I do Asus don’t care feel so let down by them and the repair company*

Today Asus called me and says sending my laptop back.

They broked my laptop and does not fixing tomorrow i will talk to prosecutor.

UPDATE FOR MY ISSUE:

I went to consumer rights court and presecutor for info how can i use my rights and how to give proofs(Pictures, Videos and Witnesses) and Both said we need your laptop too for proof .

Then I called (Today) Asus on 05.08.2018 at 13:59(01:59 P.M.) and said "you guys told me yesterday my laptop will be shipping back but still you guys don't shipped yet and i told them shipping immediately because consumer rights court and presecutor want my laptop for proof" he said "okey i will say this to Asus Service" and ended call.

After 27 Minutes Service guy called me (I will write this like chat talk so you can follow well) SG=Service Guy

SG- What is your issue Halil, how can i help you ?

Halil- My issue is you guys got my laptop perfectly fine on 04.18.2018 but you guys did something wrong then called me and said to me your laptop dead. Asus Sent me video record and it's approves but what did you guys do to my laptop and called me 2 days later and said to me your laptop dead, and what the hell is ACER WARRANTY STICKER ON MY LAPTOP.

SG- First of all i didn't watch the video. second thing Asus will say whatever we say and warranty sticker thing can't be happened We and ACER in same building but diffrent deppartment.

Halil- Then why the hell ACER WARRANTY STICKERS ATTACHED ON MY LAPTOP ?

SG- We using same shipment department. The guy opened Acer laptop before your laptop Acer laptop's sticker attached to your laptop when the man puts your notebook on the table so it's attached.

Halil- I said this can't be happened my laptop have foot like 2 CM (~ 1 Inch) gap between table and laptop for protecting from dust and supply good airflow.

SG- Maybe some ports disassembled during shipment let me check inside your laptop and i will call you 30 min later.

There is nothing happened during shipment as you can see on video my laptop working so i think he fixing what he did or replaced parts how can i know ??

After 1 hour he called and said yeah your laptop fixed except screen and we can't fix your screen it's USA laptop we don't have parts for check the screen but when i check your the values of the motherboard's parts it's not normal maybe it will never broke or will broke tomorrow i can't say for sure.

Sad thing is i am asking help from ASUS USA ROG FORUM and my own country tries to scam me. Our justice system not that good, not helping customers too much while my country still in State of Emergency.

According to this youtuber (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6-3c4oKUUM) ( using his GL753VE ), if you disconnect the LCD from the motherboard, the bios should get seen on HDMI.
worst case, as you wrote, try the VGA output ( before opening up the laptop ).

Checked our G751JT test unit running bios 211 and found you can toggle between the internal LCD display and external HDMI or Analog VGA output using Fn+F8, so give that a try.

If you didn't already know, you can possibly run into other problems with clean installs which may be missing some of the original software from the ASUS factory Windows image, so if you see an eSupport folder under your C: drive be sure to copy that or better yet, just back up your entire hard drive image first just in case you decide you want to reinstall it (a good idea to test your back-up too if possible before erasing anything).

If you happen to have a different hard drive for the clean install, that's another idea.

I will buy VGA Cable tomorrow.

For now i don't need to clean install windows i am just curious why boot screen etc. not showing via HDMI.

another idea for you - take the HDD/SSD out of the laptop and put it into another computer - then clean install windows.
after everything is done you can transfer the hdd/sdd back to the laptop - 1st reboot will be slow since windows needs to change drivers.
and about the OEM activation - don't worry, install windows with generic product key, then when the hdd is back in the laptop, it should detect the info found in the BIOS (its UEFI but NM) - if not - you can always tell windows to wipe any remaining product key by using slmgr.vbs (https://www.howtogeek.com/245445/how-to-use-slmgr-to-change-remove-or-extend-your-windows-license/).

also - pay attention how you install windows ( onto MBR partitioned disk or GPT ), because you will need change in the BIOS "Launch CSM" accordingly ( off=UEFI goes with GPT partitioned hdd, ON = legacy BIOS goes with MBR partitioned hdd).

It sounds like the laptop is seeing the display, so I dont think its disconnected. Sounds like the display is possibly just dead. Strange that its still being detected though. May just be the backlight or a portion of the screen circuit PCB thats failed where some of it is still operational.

Definitely sounds like a poorly handled RMA. What did they end up doing to get your laptop back to the same state it was in when you sent it in to begin with? Thats the real question.. I wonder if they ended up replacing the mobo?

I dont think you were scammed. Just a less then stellar RMA process. Asus uses 3rd party repair facilities outside of the USA that have been seen with less then stellar performance on more then one occasion in these forums. I think Asus could do more work on finding reputable repair facilities they contract through.

Also saying they don't have the equipment to check the screen makes no sense. They are a repair facility. Being a USA branded laptop should make no difference. They dont have Turkey branded ROG laptops that I know of that would be any different from one that you would buy in the USA other then the language installed on the OS. The "values" not being correct on the mobo are also worrisome. It almost sounds like your laptop may have some possible imminent failure approaching. If the values or readings of whatever he took are off and not normal, I would agree with him that there's no telling when the laptop may perhaps fail. You cant forget that you sent in a laptop that was not 100% working. Yes it was working fine without the screen for you, but its not out of the realm of possibility that it crapped out sometime at their facility while they are checking it.

The timeframe/people that I would be interested in would be who was it that opened the package, and how long from there to where it was looked at by the tech. It obviously wasn't the technician that opened it, because that laptop was showing signs of life aside from the screen at that time, which the tech said was not the case when he looked at it.

Sorry for the hassle. Definitely not a great experience for you. At least its working again for now.

Yes and no. Even though everything should work sometimes parts have different numbers in different regions and might have come from different fabs. So the repair drone looks at the parts list and sees things don't match and gives up there. Also I suspect regional repair centers may not get paid for repairing out of region products. Other people have conveyed similar experiences after purchasing intercontinentally. So while it seems ASUS's warranty is "global" in that it has a warranty everywhere it sells products, moving products between regions is problematic.

Service Guy told: "i just reset the BIOS". I have my laptop back and i am not using it. I have Projects to i must make so i can't risk the procedure and my laptop.



Also saying they don't have the equipment to check the screen makes no sense. They are a repair facility. Being a USA branded laptop should make no difference. They dont have Turkey branded ROG laptops that I know of that would be any different from one that you would buy in the USA other then the language installed on the OS. The "values" not being correct on the mobo are also worrisome.

I sent my laptop for finding the diagnose the issue but ended up with my laptop is broken.

Acer Warranty Stickers thing he just fooling with me like i am an idiot. Then he said: "maybe something happened during shipping maybe some ports disassembled let me check inside of your laptop and i will call you back in 30 min"
Port can't be disassembled during shipping because you can clearly see my laptop was working when they received and the way he leaved my laptop while launching in a box was very bad i am not using the feature "when you close your laptop's screen my laptop will be still awake, i am not using sleep thing etc.

Try this even like 5 min and after open your box it will hot air will come to your face and your laptop will be very hot.

And I believe "BIOS RESET" thing is full of bullcrap.

Can you tell how can i trust them anymore ? or if you were me. Would you trust them ?

Not saying you would do such a thing but electronics manufacturers are plagued by people sending in broken items out of warranty then blaming the failure on the manufacturer or repair shop. Most shops are simply contracted by ASUS..
