Downloaded Chastity's VBIOS with unlocked AMD overdrive. I just changed GPU clock to 800 mhz, and after 20-30 minutes of gaming vertical lines freeze the laptop completely. Looks like:

If I return GPU clock to default, reinstall catalyst - problem won't happen. Any idea why it happens?

Your GPU might be on the lower side of binning which means it works at stock settings and no higher. Not every part is capable of overclocking the same.

G73jh users, have you ever overclocked GPU? If 5870 mobility was running well at 800 mhz, please tell me which VBIOS you are using.

If you have never gotten a re-paste on your gpu then this will happen no matter how small an overclock you do. When I was trying the 800/1100 like all other users i found that although my other temps were fine, gpu2 was well above 110 which then forced my laptop to shutdown for safety. Haven't had the time to rma this bad boy for a repaste, may never be able to.

I run mine @ 825/1100 very stable I play wow with it also have f@h client running in background while gaming no problems temps are ok.
My vbios is the one from the drivers page on this forum. And I have not done a repaste.
