View Full Version : System interupts and the Atheros card in G73JH.

I am getting around 0.5% cpu usage from system interrupts. Using xperf I can see that it is ndis.sys causing the interrupts. This process is related to networking and sure enough when i disable my network card in device manager system interups drop below 0.1% usage.

I am on the latest drivers. I dont remember this happening before so i may try and reisnal earlier drivers. Has anyone else had this issue? If so have you resolved it?

It isn't really a huge issue but it shouldn't be happening and it can mean the difference between 3 core turbo speeds and 4 core turbo speeds (3.33GHz to 3.47GHz) if windows sticks it on a different core.

Thanks, Daniel.

EDIT: Intel 6230 fixed the issue. I don't want to bump an old thread. Thanks for your help everyone!

Haven't noticed. I'll try to remember to look.

Old drivers didn't fit it. I just got an intel 6230 off ebay. They are insanely cheap! hopefully this will fix it.

intel 6320 fixes everything lol..... me personally, my laptop worked soooo much smoother, and slightly faster with the 6230, best investment ever. If your not doing a clean install of windows, don't forget to remove the atheros drivers before removing the original card. Good Luck

Here is an interesting thread involving NDIS.SYS and high system interrupts: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1437178

Systems running VMWare also appear to be susceptible to this issue: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/292292
