hey guys, i'm kinda new in this forum. i want to ask somethin, i own asus G53sx laptop and it has 4gb RAM 1333hz, i'd like to upgrade my RAM to corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1600hz, is it a good or a bad call? Is my laptop support the 1600hz SO-DIMM? Thanks before

I happen to run 16 GB in my G53SX-XR1. I occassionally compile things (Netbeans IDE), so running with 16 GB of ram is worth it to me. Not to mention, opening the computer to change anything takes an entire evening.

I run cheap DDR3-1333 RAM, which is plenty fast for my needs. Based upon what I saw, the lowest amount of RAM that ASUS puts in the G53SX is 2x4GB, for a total of 8 GB. Unless you plan to upgrade to a full 16 GB of DRR3-1600 RAM, my advice is to simply put in DDR3-1333, which is less than half the retail price, and requires half the number of modules.

In short, unless DDR3-1600 provides something you want (need), I would say go with 1333. Like I said, I have no problems with the cheap stuff, and my Windows 8 memory index is 8.9.

I don't think there would be any problem, but it is possible that the G53SX would run the ram at 1333, which would waste your money.

Can you post a screen-shot of task manager/memtest86, so I can see how much RAM you have?

Also, which particular variant of the G53Sx do you have, ASUS has released almost a dozen of them, with only minor changes in the amount of HDD or RAM that differentiate them.
