I was doing a routine inspection of may laptop and i noticed something I hadn't before...the left hinge seem to be revealing a small bit of the cable for the laptop connector but it wasn't out coming out of it. I am also attaching a picture...call me paranoid but I do want a second opinion. This case has never been taken apart except for the hard drive and memory compartment has been opened and the hard drive switched out a couple times. Aside from that I have been transporting it in the backpack it came with.

Here is a picture of it

The bag that I got with my laptop is also starting to unravel....the part where you can place a drink is ripped and that bag is barely 2 months old

I'm not sure about the hinge, but it looks like you better cut back on your drinkin'! ;>{)>

What do you mean drinking?

It's perfectly normal. :) The video cable is routed along the left hinge, and you're just seeing it through the tiny gap between the hinge cover and the lid.

There isn't one, AFAIK. Is there something in particular that you are looking for or need to know?

Brody is it possible that the hinge could eventually wear down the protective cover of the cable? Please see this link for an issue that has cropped up.

I very seriously doubt it....for a few reasons.

The cover is a tough, canvas-like cloth with a smooth finish. It doesn't rub against any sharp edges, but even if it did, I don't think it's a material that's apt to wear easily.
The cable has a fair amount of slack, so it's never pulled taut in a way that might stress the cover.
(see photo)
It's taped against the hinge in one spot, to keep it from sliding around or becoming dislocated from its intended path.

The issue in the thread you referenced appeared to be a software issue.....I believe I've heard that some nVidia drivers have a problem with Windows' hibernate function. (I don't use hibernate, so I haven't followed it closely.)

OH haha...funny about the drink joke... In all seriousness I'm most likely going to get a new bag for my laptop...debating on ROG laptop back or another brand atm.
