Hello I bought recently motherboard Asus z590 Xiii Hero and I am experiencing strange issue. I am running 10th gen 10900k CPU.

My Samsung 980 pro M.2 SSD is running ony x2 mode.. no

This MOBO has 5 m.2 slots

I am aware about m.2_1 works only with 11th gen CPU

I am aware that m.2_2 share bandwidth with Pcie16_1 slot

I configuration is as follow

GPU in pcie16_1 running at 16x
Pcie16_2 is empty
Pcie16_3 in x2 mode with soundcard installed

m.2_3 running 970 evo plus at full speed x4 running
m.2_4 running 980pro in x2 mode only.. (I AM UNABLE TO RUN IT AT X4 SPEED)

MOBO has 6x sata connectors

I have only one SSD connected to Sata G1 connector..

I have tried swapped my m.2 ssd to configuration where 980pro was in slot m.2_3 and 970 evo plus in m.2_4 but in this configuration my 980 pro was again on x2 mode.... and 970evo plus x4

I have read manual and look everywhere on forums.. but I cant figure it out why cant run my 980 pro in pcie 3.0 x4 full speed mode

Could you please help me to solve my issue?

You are aware the 980 Pro does not like the Samsung NVMe driver. It should be running on the Windows standard NVMe driver.

By swapping the drives around or maybe even removing the other one, and the 980 Pro stays in x2 mode, it may not be just the motherboard..but I can't think of anything else..

Beyond that, since the 10th Gen processor has 4 lanes less that the 11th Gen, the board was designed for, other things may be effected that aren't noted..

Yes I am aware of that. But for some reason... wont do x4 mode :) dead end for me as well.. Have no idea what else that could be.. Perhaps somebody with same ssd and motherboard and 10th gen CPU could check..
