I guess everything we're seeing is the teaser shots and a release date is soon. I'm definitely interested in seeing comparisons between the Extreme & Black boards.

I wonder if there's going to be a R3 Extreme Red, maybe with a special edition GPU to match the look of the Ares. (Yes, I want a card to look as cool as that but from nvidia)

Taking a closer look at a clear pic of the bare Rampage III Black Edition, the 20pin red connector at the front is the same connector as the P8P67 DELUXE which is your USB 3.0 headers (it reads USB 3_34). Which means the external 3.5" Front Panel USB 3.0 connector will most likely be included, which the P8P67 DELUXE comes with.

Also looking closer at it, the debug LED indicator module has made a come back on the Black Edition, the board looks similar to the Maximus IV Extreme in terms of the the heatsinks for most parts and the debug LED indicator of course.

I'm just taking a guess on this part, but we might see one of the two situations. Either all the USB ports will be USB3.0 on this board or the likeliness is it'll be the same amount of USB3.0 ports as the Extreme but they just added 2 more via USB 3.0 headers on the board totaling 4. My hope is that all the External USB ports are USB 3.0.

I'm not a big fan of the new heatsink look, I still prefer the look on the Extreme more, but the new one still looks pretty rad, just not as sleek as the Extreme.

I was actually building my new system within the next two months or so, and I was gonna go with the R3E but good thing I held off, I'll wait for this one as it looks like everything the R3E is with some nicer upgrades. Though 1366 is likely to come to an end, it still the top tier socket that supports 6 cores until much later this year/next year when the new top tier Sandy bridge processors arrives which would be too late for me. It's a good thing when I get the R3BE I'll be either picking up a 980X or the newer version the i7 X995 so I don't have to feel so bad about not getting a Sandy bridge processor much later.

The current 2600K Sandy Bridge processor is very nice, but since the Maximus IV Extreme isn't widely available and pretty much sold out everywhere, doesn't help my cause, as well I'm NOT loving at all how the PCI Express lanes are mapped out on the board. I get how it functions, but I would either prefer the single PCI express port to be either above the first 16x PCI Express port or somewhere where it isn't blocked out from a dual/tri SLI setup.

I can't wait for the R3BE.

*Edited: Meant to say Debug LED*
