View Full Version : My computer only starts intermittently

I use a G60Vx Notebook. When I shut it down using the normal function keys it may or may not start the next time I try to turn it on.

It has been doing this for about one month and I can determine no rhyme or reason for this. This computer is 14 months old.

Any suggestions?

Every other thing about it works fine.

Thank you,

What do you have to do to get it to finally turn on? Remove the battery or you just wait and try again?

I removed the battery and waited two days. I re-inserted the battery and it started yesterday on the first try. It started again today with no problems.

It would not start with the battery removed using direct a/c power.

I can't figure it out.

Thanks again,

I would go into the BIOS and have it reset to default then go into the power management settings there to see if they reflect your usage.

Also, in Windows you may want to check the power management settings for Windows. Your function keys can be changed to suspend instead of shutting down or even hibernate.

When you removed the battery was the laptop completely disconnected from battery and the power cord or did you already have the power plug connected when you removed the battery? If it had a constant source of power then that may have prevented a complete reset of whatever went wrong. If the problem happens again you may want to remove both for a few seconds and then try plugging the power back in.

Did this solution work for you? I had the same problem with my 50vm-X1 and it was also a BIOS issue, I would suggest getting the latest version.
