Does anyone know if the new 3rd generation mobile processors are compatible with the G74SX? I am thinking if so, I am going to uprade my processor...

It looks like the new ones are LGA 2011 and Gen2 is 1155 so no, our boards would most likely not support it.

Looking at http://ark.intel.com/products/64889/Intel-Core-i7-3820QM-Processor-(8M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz)
Package size is 37.5x37.5 mm (rPGA988B), no socket specified.

Current package size of 2nd Gen core i7 2670QM: 37.5x37.5 mm (rPGA998); socket FCPGA988

They look very similar in size and Pin Grid Array (PGA) so it might be worth an email to someone at Intel about the possibility of the 3820QM (for example above) fitting into the G74.

On some notebook supplier sites they do offer both cpu's for the G75.....does this mean they'll swap in another board? don't think so
