View Full Version : [G53SW] GTX 460M Temperature

I have a question about the temperature of GTX 460M.

I tried to Overclock the GPU a little bit and it stayed very stable at 795(core)/1500(mem)/1590(shader).

Normally the temp of GPU will be around 48->50oC when it stays idle. But when i starts playing game it peaks to around 81->84 Celsius with normal games. With demanding games like Crysis, when i set it at 1080p and high settings the temp usually goes around 85->87.

Is that temperature safe for my GPU ? And what could i do to decrease temps ?

Yeah, your gpu should be fine up to 100 Celsius or even more. When playing 3d intensive games, it is normal to have higher temperatures. And when you overclock it too, it is most common. This is the trade you need to do. If you have goot venting, then heating is no problem at below 100 degrees.

Update: I started playing Crysis 2 today on 1080p and very high settings. The GPU temps sometimes even peaks to 91 Celsius :(.
I'm really worried. Any ideas?

As Ruwin said, the tmax is like 105 deg C so the GPU should be relatively safe.

Make sure other components are within a good temperature though.

Thanks you guys :) I have one more question: How effective is the cooling pad on G53 series ? I'm planning to grab this if necessary: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Notepal-Notebook-R9-NBC-4WAK-GP/dp/B002MU1ZRS/ref=cm_ciu_custimg_t

Please help me :) I can only order it tonight :).
