I may have stumbled into the right place.

Just bought the Asus HD 7770 and am trying to run it on WinXP. The manual says its compatible, the driver says its not. Tried to install multiple times, the comp seems to be reading it as an audio driver...and even then when installed has no sound. I want to play DIablo III damnit what the hell is the problem here? Anybody, help me out!

Have you only installed the drivers from the driver disk, or have you also tried the latest catalyst drivers from the ATI Website?

This from AMD http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/hd7900seriesxpsupport.aspx so I guess you have to try the very latest drivers..... 12.4?

Try this Driver: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx, it's the direct link for your GPU and Windows XP Pro x32. Please note that windows XP is still at DX9 and all of the graphics stuff your looking for is under Windows Vista or Windows 7 like DX10.1 or DX11 but most of your gaming should run nicely with DX9 just not as Pretty or on Multiple Screens(Eyefinity) and you might not be able to use HDMI Sound. This info was gathered at AMD's Website Linked in Above Post plus Common knowledge that has been stated since the HD5870's came out.

I hope this has been of help to you.

Not sure about the HDMI sound stuff, but certainly the card woks with XP.

I have food on the brain I suspect, I was actually typing and thinking what was I going to make the girls for supper. And yes it was Chinese too. Just goes to show Freud was right when you spoke of parapraxis.

"but certainly the card woks with XP" - which card, HiVizMan??

Just asking, because I ran into a very similar problem... In the last few days I was trying to install the Asus HD7770-DC-1GD5-V2 in a XP 32-bit system (replacing a dead VGA). And doesn't want to work either...

On the Asus website (under the "specification" tab) it says: "Note: To ensure optimum performance and stability, avoid using ASUS HD 7700 Series cards with Windows XP, as official AMD driver support will not be added until April 2012. For best results on Win 7/Vista 32bit/64bit, download drivers from the links below:http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/hd7700series7support.aspx"

So, went to the above address and Windows XP is not listed at all (neither 32 or 64 bit) at the supporting operating systems... It's past April and no new driver...

I really feel obryae's pain here (as I'm helping a friend too)!

I did not had time yet to download and install the driver from DaemionCantor's link. That, however, states that: "In addition to Windows 7 and Windows Vista support, Catalyst 12.4 now also introduces Windows XP (64-bit/32-bit) support for the AMD Radeon HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800, and AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series"...
