I have attached a picture. I tried wiping it, using a toothbrush... but there's this white stuff... Did I ruin the finish or something? Any proper way to clean it? thanks

Looks like you are fighting against some small white particles. Try on of these small USB-vacuum-cleaners with a brush adaptor on the front. Can you move these particles by your toothbrush?

Yeah, using a toothbrush made it far worse. Like the particles are everywhere where I brushed it on. Using a toothpick helped break it up a little, but it can only do little..

I'll hold up on getting one of those..

Anyway, has anyone with the G55 faced a similar issue?

Was thinking about getting one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1338691085&sr=8-2/). Looks pretty hardcore.

It's a Metro Vacuum ED500 btw

what is the white substance ? why is a surface like that on the G Asus ?

I found that on my G75 the best way to deal with it was with my fingers. Try using a not so rough towel. Do not use paper based clothes, they disintegrate in the surface and you will now have a paper based mess.
