Hi

I noticed last night that the ASUS Live Update Utility was updated to version, V3.1.5. Do we know what was fixed???

As a general question do we ever get / find release notes for changes.

Why would you want to use that?

Why would you want to use that?
bucause it is a hassle to download the driver updates manually from asus website and checking the driver version everytime i want to update.:(

do you have any other ways bro? link an alternative..how do you update the drivers

i also heard that the live update utility by asus can cause problems..is it true?

thank you

Works OK for me so far. I use it to identify which drivers have been updated then down load them manualy.

Hey m8..
Just keep Asus update on manual download. Then u get a notification on updates. But you just go fetch em yourself.
Saves you the hassle of checking day and night ;)

Uninstall the old one. Try the new one.

This is actually better. Then it doesn't download when you're trying to use the net or whatever.

I actually haven't thought of using it to just check for updates. I only install updates when I have a problem with the old ones. I have read that it is buggy and causing problems all the time so I uninstalled it immediately after I got my g55.
I am going to install the new live update software to try it out. Thank you bro, that's a smart idea I just learned.:D

Hey all, I'm kind of new to some of this stuff. I read another post that said to uninstall the asus live update. Then reading here its ok to set it up so it doesn't automatically download the updates. I did that, but i'm curious as to what damage could happen by leaving the live update on? and if there is an update, is it safe to let the live update handle it or should I go to the asus site and track down what the updat is and try to do it myself?

Thx in advance

I would do it manually, just to be safe

Too many horror stories about decisions the utility makes causing bricked or badly disabled machines ... sorry don't trust asus with this utility ... do it manually ... not that much ever changes and if you are not having problems with a current version of something ... may not need latest anyhow right?

I'm so happy I found these posts. Last night I had to do a system restore back to February after LiveUpdate screwed up. I got my machine back to normal and after reading here, I just uninstalled the program. I don't have the same model Asus as this thread title states so I thank google for helping me get here. Now, I have to decide if I want to install the new version. I'm a little skittish about it after what happened.
