So I just recently got this G75VW from newegg but i've noticed in the system tray, taskbar and my desktop that icons are pixelated and was wondering why it is like this and how I could fix it. I wasn't able to find any help through search or google. Thanks I also included a screenshot

could you post a bigger picture? that ones kind of small and blurry.

what i can tell from it is, youre running a whole lot of possibly or probably unnecessary processes (all you really need is firewall/antivirus/malware and atk package), try disabling any that you dont need w/ msconfig -> startup. otherwise post a bigger picture so that i can get a better look and tell you if its normal or not.

you also (it seems) have 'use small icons' selected for your taskbar, which makes them small and pixelly, uncheck that in taskbar settings to make them the normal size and i bet they wont be pixelly anymore.

Sorry didn't realize Photobucket resized it. Those processes are Steam, Skype, Origin, Aim, Spotify which I turn on and have system tray icons because they are part of the program (or i set it that way)
Using small icons shouldn't cause pixelated icons though especially since I had small icons set on my old HP laptop as well as the icons in quick launch aren't pixelated compared to their taskbar/system tray icons.

Mine has the same problem but only for certain icons like Steam. I would also like a fix for this. (look at the steam icon in OP
s picture, you can see the pixelation, especially on the diagonal lines.)

I've been having this problem too, though it has been apparent on several computers from different manufacturers and has generally been the same programs regardless of resolution or location, but my brand new G55 has been showing a much more pronounced version with some icons looking significantly torn (Including two which were included with the install and one that does not act this way on other devices) as well as occuring in the tray icons for entirely different programs (while the ones with torn desktop icons did NOT have any issues in the tray) which was never apparent on other computers. Below are some images showing the affected icons individually

bump, still no one knows how to fix it?

And additionally it seems my USB 3 hdd (WD Passport SE) Doesn't seem to get recognized correctly when i plug it in. It powers on but to get the laptop to start reading it I have to plug in my usb flashdrive to kind of jump start it. Anyone having this problem as well or know what would be the problem?

Some icons may appear pixelated because of a specific Screen Resolution setting.

To make the text on your screen larger or smaller

1. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.

2. Choose:

Smaller - 100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal size.

3. Click Apply.

To see the change, close all of your programs and then log off of Windows. This change will take effect the next time you log on.

Thanks, that fixed it! On the G55 the default is actually 125% and apparently Windows doesn't use a great algorithm to make the icons larger when the developers don't include icons in higher-than-necessary resolution, or something of that nature.

Of course, now I have to deal with a taskbar which is a bit too small for my tastes... But I can get used to it. Would be nice if that resizing could be done just for icons or just for the taskbar.

Yup fixed mine too, thanks.
