View Full Version : optical adapter

The connector that converts my optical cable going to my speaker system to the Asus phoebus card (the adapter that came with the card) broke off today.

I want to know how to get a replacement...

Also, is this the same thing?

Note that I can actually jury rig it together, and it still works, but I don't know how much longer it will.

The optical cable itself works and is undamaged, it's the adapter that's broken.

Basically, the little adapter that came in the phoebus box snapped in half.

I'll give the monoprice adapter a shot.

Dark the problem with that is the Phoebus doesn't actually have a port for an Optical Cable. It only caters for 3.5mm jacks so you need an adaptor which is why the OP is looking for one :)

I believe you are referring to Mini Toslink. If the adapter imaged below is what your after search for a "Mini Toslink" or "Mini Optical" adapter.

Won't let me edit my post well. I'll be naughty and add another just to confirm you do have the correct adapter in that link. As I was lazy and didn't look at the link first :P.

thanks for your confirmation!

The broken adapter is still working, I just can't move my computer or it will fall apart :)

The new one should hopefully come tomorrow (I live pretty close to where monoprice ships stuff out from.)

Got the new adapter and it works great! ;)

So for anyone that is wondering, the Monoprice will work as a replacement.
