Recieved a new G75VW-AS71 yesterday.

Took from the box, installed battery, hooked up power supply, and pressed start.

I get the logo screen, then blank screen [back lighting, but blank]. Stays that way.
Also, when blank screen comes up the hard disk active light goes out.

I can hit ESC and get to setup, looks ok. Screen works.

I hit F9, but does nothing. Trying to see if boot partition was available.
No recovery dvds in the box.

I have arranged for return and replacement. My opinion is DOA.

Does anyone have any suggestions that I could try for getting it working?

Thank you

I see you have another computer you can use.

Download Linux Mint Mate, burn a disc, boot from it (ESC at start-up should offer the option to choose ODD) and start live session with compatibility mode. Wait for everything to load. See how hardware works. It even has drivers for Atheros. The only thing that is missing is the driver for the keyboard and shortcuts.

Another option would be to use a Windows disc and try to repair the OS.

Have you tried an external keyboard ? usb ? (if the onboard keyboard drives are not installed .. eh?) .c.

Did so. Had to enable in setup, but it did recognize the ESC key after enabled. Same as laptop keyboard.
However F9 had no response for either USB keyboard or laptop keyboard.

...still downloading Linux...

I was able to download Linux Mint Mate. Booted from image, and booted right up. Looked like all was working. I could
see 3 partitions on my 750GB hard drive.

Apparently my issue is a corrupt OS.

Will see if I can repair.

Thank you for the suggestion.
