Cool little contest especially those who dont have a Liquid cooled system.

Just wish more of us could be involved

One thing though regarding all the systems being shown, can we get more systems showed per page like 25+ at bare minimum because thats alot of pages to go through once people start submitting :)

also is it me or is something wrong with the dates?
Competition takes place 03/09/2012 – 01/10/2012

Gotta update that Marshall =P

A G53SX with stock fans running 40-45 C on desk with no cooler? ;) Kudos to ASUS for cooling their notebooks off so that I don't have to. :D

Whose system is in the picture ... that is crazy good! :)

Sigh~
Some people have posted rigs of ones they have found online.

@Mods. Whoever wins the competition, make them them somehow prove that it is their own PC.
*i.e. close up of specific part of the PC ect.

It's not fair on the people who actually came to show of their OWN system

This is actually something we never considered tbh, and a real shame. If you spot any, please let us know and we will ban that user and the entry. We will keep it in mind when choosing the result.

For starters, EsmaMisa has pictures of event display rigs...
junkun13 has used pictures from ''rignoobies''.

TBH, theres not much you can do except ask the winner to prove him/herself. Alot of the pictures are stolen from build logs so you except the ''fraud'' to have specs on the rig already.

*Google image search may help/ be sceptical of the guys will nice systems but 0 descriptions*

@jayski:
junkun13's entry is legit. he is the owner of the rig. in fact his 1st rig was also featured in million-dollarpc.com
http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/systems-2008/coolermaster/cosmos-1000/coolermaster-cosmos-junkun13.htm

you can also check the images here posted by him.

the adding of pics is extremely slow (554kb pic took 4 mins to process after upload)

my system i legit i have now updated to add a second rad because of the the lights in the case and on fans camera has a heart attack on closeups. but i have every part inside pc listed. just changed my coolant to fluorescent blue ( when it comes from pccasegear).

maybe add a verification method such as unique cpuz verify or a video or something.

I've been trying to submit my rig for the competition with no joy.. I've selected my 4 images (which show in the placeholders) added my description, build name and user but when I click on the submit, nothing happens.... nothing...

:p

I'm losing possible votes daily.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You know, its really sad to see that people are potentially cheating. Maybe we should restrict the competition to registered hardware ASUS VIPs (I'm a VIP not through hardware but because I'm a mod) and the submissions must use the hardware you register. Post a pic of the hardware ID so that the admins can compare it with the registration ID. Just me $2*10^-2

Cody_Irwin

I just dont like the general Idea of the vote process. Those willing to spam people for a vote on a daily basis will win as I seen a few doing it already. But theres really no other way to do this contest. Just hate being spammed daily to vote for someone ya know? hah.

Also I do not like the "Most Popular" Tab feature, It just allows people to vote fast and easy instead of actually going through all the photos of the rigs and actually picking one they like other then the ones which are obviously look like they are going to win, so they automatically end up still getting more votes.

Just thought id say Make it fair for those who entered their rigs as Most popular is what Everyone entering usually tend to go for.

And Im hoping people are only allowed 1 vote for the Voting contest, meaning regardless if they vote everyday only One ticket they are getting into the Voting part of the contest. Even if you vote every day in the end yoou only have one.

So those are my thoughts hah

Jayki

Or... f*ck it and only count the votes of ROG Staff.

As for making future tests fair; make the entries pending until teh mods can verify everything :o

Really awsome comp by the way, I've only even known about ROG for the past two weeks or so and I've been so hooked ever since. My next rig will be decked in ARR OUW GEE.

Dont really like the voting system, but I cant complain too much as Im not sure how to fix it. Seems like the final 3 have already been decided : /

(edit: added frostbite, though before I read it I thought it would be snowflake, lol)

My favorites, not in any paticular order, are:

Your contest is a fake. There is a minimum of 7 contestants who used my picture for their rig. I think it's not fair because I owned and builded it by myself so it's not pleasant to see that someone else take your pictures and said it's their picture.

09-15-2012, 10:52 PM
So, here are the very similar (mostly the same) submissions...

The original complainer's (vieuxchnock) first:

11745

Then all the others - Mastermind:

11746

sp33d3ple:

11747

becsitibi:

11748

na:

11749

5454:

11750

ying:

11751

Lazy Bear:

11752

This really needs to be clarified... It would be unbelievable that some of these would built those systems and sold it to the next one, then the next sold it further, and so on...

Since entries registered after the start date have a *much* reduced chance of winning, I would suggest allowing for an advertising period, for the next competition, where no registrations are taken. This way everyone starts at the same time.

Thoughts for the future:
1) Have a 3-4 week block of time where the only thing that happens is members post their pictures.
2) One picture must show the hardware ID that the poster registered to become an ASUS VIP. ASUS reps check this out and remove illegitimate entries.
3) Have 3 week block of voting in which no new entries are permitted. This gives everyone an equal time, not just a first come, first served.
4) Announce winners.

I agree with this. Although as a late entry myself i am bias! Seriously though with my build it probably wouldnt have made much difference if i had of entered on day 1 (the quality of some of the builds entered is mind blowing!), but in the interest of fairness to all i think its a necessary step.

It puts everyone on equal footing from the start, and throughout the comp.

This is definitely the way for the future I think. At least we have the code now so we can reuse it. I'm starting to think of a Movember campaign (ROG GROWS MO'S FOR GAMING BRO'S) where people can share their pics in here during the month, then we'll have a week to upload the befores and afters, then a week to vote.

As for the broken images. I had a complaint about it on Thurs and if it's not isolated (please link me specifics) then ill get them to look at it Monday. Thanks!

Definitely provide one if you are nominated. Don't slam the pretty voting pictures, but if you make it into the prize category, ASUS should request a sticky tab on the GPU with your user-name and today's (or a few days around it) date. Anyone who can't provide the photo is disqualified. Give people a few days to do it, but otherwise, we have to have them PM @Marshall with the product ID they registered to become an ASUS VIP.

Great ill take a "proof shot" with sticky note with username/date, not to submit in the four but to have if requested. The four glamor shots will not have this sticky attached.

I have to agree with Cody_Irwin on this post (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?20554-ROG-Sept-Competition-Show-off-what-you-cool-off!&p=156664&viewfull=1#post156664), again concerning future contest, that the "Most Popular" option and the "Vote Counter" should be removed. Its more difficult to prevent vote spamming, but it might be solvable by only allowing seasoned contributors to vote (those with x amount of post who actually contributed something)

The other thought I had is to verify there arnt a bunch of accounts created under the same subnet within a short period of time who all contribute votes to the same machine(s)

unfortunately the criterion of voting was not fair, because what was valued among the winners was case-mod, then was not the best system watercooling in my case to have a system of water cooler of $ 3,000 and lose to a PC that has only mode!! FAIL ASUS ROG competion!! Asked who won more votes and more known for case-moders in my opinion the best of the cooling water in the question were:
FASTER
L3P-NL
owikh84
Danny3333
bdigital

Congratulations to all winners from me aswell. Although the rigs I voted for everyday didn't win, it was really nice to see what kind of systems people have built around the world.

My congratulations to all the great sportsmen (and women too!) on here who speak volumes about their character! My hat (which I don't wear ;)) is off to you all!

Excuse me sir , its clear that people have their own preference on what they see that looks cool or awesome to them so it is fquite fair that people have voted for what they want and you are only 1 person , what can you do ? I , myself , voted for the 3 winners everyday and I think they deserve it , look at each detail on what they made , I cant see that in other of the contestants at all IMHO . Let us all have sportmanship , GGWP = ) PROUD TO BE PINOY = ) CONGRATS TO ALL WINNERS

@sate: sorry if you feel that way dude. you seem to have a different perspective on this contest. having the most expensive parts and components doesn't guarantee you a sure victory. it's what you are able to do and accomplish with "any" kind of hardware and parts is what's important. "BEST" is a subjective word and is based on what individuals see. this contest was based on popularity votes and promotion. the contest rules did not mention that the most expensive or most extremely water cooled rigs have the best chances of winning. having many friends voting for you is one of the most important factor, second. we were able to register earlier compared to the other entries you mentioned above. our advantage was, we were able to promote our projects earlier = more votes per day compared to the ones who registered later.

as the contest title also implies "show off! what you cool off" having good photos of your rig also helped in getting more votes. i agree there are better projects compared to our entries, but the pictures they posted failed to show the true beauty of their projects.

thank you to ASUS and to all those who voted.

please visit our site http://rignoobies.com/gallery/ we also have other projects BTW :)
