View Full Version : G75 performance issues?

Hey, sorry if this issue has been beaten to death already... I looked through the first few pages and didn't see anything that quite matches what I'm experiencing.

So, here's the thing. I've got an ASUS G75VW-RS72 (added 16GB RAM for good measure) with a GeForce GTX 670M (3GB dedicated RAM), and I really don't think that I'm pulling the FPS that I should be.

Basically, I'm pulling only 45 FPS on Company of Heroes, an OLD game. My old laptop, a Gateway P-7805u with a GeForce 9800M GTS (1GB dedicated RAM) pulled 60+ FPS easily on that game. That's the most specific comparison I can make. But I've heard that games like ME3 should be pulling 60+ FPS on a G75, whilst I'm pulling 20-40. Even very old games like KotOR don't run at 60 FPS.

I have nVidia's latest beta drivers installed and I can't really figure out what's going on here. Am I simply expecting too much?

Any insight/advice would be so incredibly appreciated. I just want to know that the laptop I dropped $1600 on is running at peak capacity.

are the graphics settings the same?

Yes. I even went into the nVidia Control Panel and re-applied the default settings and I didn't break 60.

hmm one sec ima send you a pm.

Also how long have you owned your laptop? i would actualy consider returning it and getting another your gpu might be faulty.

I've had it for 11 days, but I had Xotic PC do some custom things (switching from matte to glossy screen, adding Bluray, extra RAM, etc).

I mean, if it's a faulty GPU, I will return it, but I really don't want to have to sit through all that waiting again. Especially if the return shipping will be on my bill. Not to mention I've already paid for MS Office on this machine.

have them put the hdd from your old into the new. and you can ask them to rush the process.

So it's for sure a faulty GPU, then?

DPC Latency can rob your system of performance. I'd troubleshoot with DPC Latency Checker before considering an RMA.

I'd also deal with Xotic PC before sending it to ASUS, since you purchased the system there. They have a 15 day "No Questions Asked" return policy in the worst case scenario.

Many thanks, Kele. I dunno how many FPS it will add (if any), but it would appear that my ethernet port was definitely causing some performance issues.

Helpful software, for sure.

You could also try going for the stable nvidia drivers and not the beta drivers for the GPU and secondly the game being kind of old you could try running it in XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Are you plugged in?
In high performance mode?
Is it at the same resolution as your older game (i.e. not just AA/AF/texture settings)?

I am plugged in and in high performance mode, but, as stated earlier, have moved to 1920x1080 from 1440x900.

I guess I just wasn't expecting this computer to no be able to chew out 60FPS easily on a game like CoH, even on the higher resolution.
