Setup cant find partition where I want to install windows 7...

P.S. copy of windows 7 included SP1

Hm, on DVD it should work if it's SP1. Try to disable UEFI Boot.

Can you test the system using a Mint Matte live session?

I initially received a "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" error when I attempted a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 to my G74SX. I downloaded the .ISO file again, burned a new DVD at the slowest speed, and the install was successful.

UEFI boot is in BIOS.

Mint Matte is a Linux OS.

Using a very slow speed to burn it is a good idea.

I downloaded Windows 7 SP1 from http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/. Be sure to download the version that shipped with your laptop if you wish to use the Product Key on the label on the bottom of your laptop to Activate your new Windows 7 installation.

I don't believe that .ISO file is corrupt on the Digital River site. I think it just failed to download properly or burn to DVD properly on YOUR laptop.

@Sunrise2000,

1. use MD5 & SHA-1 Checksum Utility (http://download.cnet.com/MD5-SHA-1-Checksum-Utility/3000-2092_4-10911445.html) to verify that the .iso file that you have now is not corrupt before burning.

the sha1 sum of X17-58997.iso is 6C9058389C1E2E5122B7C933275F963EDF1C07B9

2. if it's corrupt, download the .iso file from the link provided by c_man again.

Could Always try the Microsoft web site itself for downloading the Version you want, that's what 8i did, I have the Win7 Ultimate 32/64 and tried burning it and changing that file, but it didn't like it. I did get windows install after it spat the dummy about the wrong DVD, I put me real DVD in and it finished the install even though i was installing Win7 Home Premium. then I enter the key under me laptop and all was good.
Still waiting for Laptop to come back from repairs (Replacing of GPU) tomorrow, Tuesday the 5th will be day ten of the 5-10 days to repair it. hopefully they call tomorrow and say it's fixed.

The reason I asked was because as you know it is not a simple task to load OS onto a 3TB+ hard drive and I wondered if that was the reason why you were having issues. GPT type hard drives are most commonly used for large sized drives you see. I would convert the OS drive to the normal mode of operation.

Could you not simply re-format your drives using a third party application or even the windows tool, does that not work?

Does what work? Might be a good idea to start a new thread if you have specific questions ...

I found that using a bootable thumb drive saved time. you have alot of noob questions. so....

since you use a CD. when you turn on your Lappy...
PRESS ESC right when the ROG logo pops up. (tapping ESC till you see the ROG logo as it boots also works)

from there select you booting options.

From here it was fairly obvious.

I found all my questions were ..... all here.... somewhere in the forum. hope that helps. If not. well, im sure we can all put our heads together and LMGTFY!!! :P
