So I just got a g60vx with core 2 duo and 260m. I took my 2nd media hdd from my g53sw and swapped it in to my g60vx but it doesn't show up in "my computer" or in disk management. I owned an xps l501x(which this drive originally came from) before I got my g53sw. Anyways, I installed the drive from the xps straight into my g53sw and it worked perfectly, didn't have to format or anything. All my media was there and accessible from the start. Why is it not working in my G60vx? I would appreciate any help I can get, thanks.

Why are you putting it into a G60VX ... that's a slower computer than your G53SW?

No ideas of what it could be? I know the drive works cause I plugged it back into my g53sw to check. Could it be the connector on the g60vx? A driver of some sort? Any help would be appreciated.

Possibly a connector...try swapping the drives in the G60vx. Also, make sure that your drive is not formatted with GPT, but is instead MBR.

I tried swapping the drives, but it wouldnt load windows. It brought up a screen that had a bunch of patent information and asked me to choose boot device and restart. Each restart was the same. I guess it's the connector :/

Does your SSD work in the G60vx? Make sure that the drive is formatting MBR ... that would do it.

Okay so I fixed the problem. First I had to pop it into my external hd enclosure, connect it to the laptop, and create partition then format. Afterwards I installed it back into the 2nd hd bay. It finally recognized it! Sucks that I had to reformat and loose all my media data, but it's all good. Thanks for your help.
