Hi,

Had my G74sx for a bit now, and am sick of the 65mbps on the Atheros AR9002WB-1NG.So I'm looking for a new BT+WiFi card.

I've read posts dating back last year about upgrading the card to Intel 6230/5 (I struggle to find the 6235). Are these still the best option, or is there better WiFI card now on the market i.e is the 6250 better..

Next question, I have a WR1043ND router running DD-WRT, but looking to get a N600 (or over) router. Even with a new card and router, will I get the dual connection (450+whatever) a new router offers. I think I read somewhere that the G74sx doesn't have the right amount of aerials, so you can only get 450!. I might be wrong.

It doesn't have to be Intel, it just has to be good, stable and fast!

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Cy

I would say the Intel Advanced-N 6230. I replaced the card that was in my G53SX and it works great. 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0.

I also have the Intel 6230 since January and it's a good upgrade from the stock Atheros Wi-Fi card.
Don't know about the Intel 6235, but it's said to have the BlueTooth 4.0 (the 6230 has BT 3.0).

Since your thread title said you're looking for a Wi-Fi w/ BT, the 6250 variant might not be a good
option (it doesn't have BlueTooth). For some ROG members, they opted for the non-BlueTooth
Intel 6300 WiFi card.
