Hello, I am going to buy the Best Buy version of the G75. The G75vw-bbk5 this one (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus---17.3%26%2334%3B-Laptop---8GB-Memory---1TB-Hard-Drive---Black/5176239.p?skuId=5176239&productCategoryId=pcmcat247400050000&id=1218621250769). But I would like to add a ssd as a primary drive because of the slow hard drive this version comes with, I just want to be sure to get one that works with this laptop.

As far as I know, the size of the ssd to put into this laptop would be 2.5", but my question is does it have to measure that exactly?. Also, does the drive need to be SATA, SATA3, I have read that SATA3 is compatible with previous versions but I want to know if I will be able to connect the drive I buy to this laptop and that it will work

I am thinking of buying this ssd (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Intel---520-Series-180GB-Internal-Serial-ATA-Solid-State-Drive-for-Laptops/4921065.p?skuId=4921065&id=1218577563456). Does somebody here know if this will work?. My concern is that the specifications in the bestbuy website for this ssd says: product height 4" product width 2.75" and depth .4", and I don't see how that would fit something the size of 2.5". Thanks for reading I hope you can reply :)

Hello Ahrus,

That SSD will work with your notebook, and yes it is a SATA 3 drive. I suspect you will be very happy with the performance it offers. I think the dimensions listed are actually for the box that it comes in. It is in fact a 2.5" drive, and it is designed for a laptop computer like the G75.

If you decide to go for it, I would recommend that you read this:

I used it to restore my image to a Samsung 830 series SSD and everything went swimmingly (Thanks Cecil!). My machine is blazing fast now, and I am at about 24 seconds from the time I click restart to welcome screen!

Have fun, and poke around in the forum, you will find a bevy of useful information and helpful people here.
