right I just bought my G55VW and now I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 but when I was about to start after the welcome Screen a message pop's up saying "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver on a floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB Flash Driver, please insert it now."

I've tried setting up the SATA contoller from the Bios into IDE from AHCI mode.

Your Windows 7 cd includes SP1?

I don´t know if this will work, but try to disable UEFI from BIOS.

EDIT: Also check this out, maybe can help you

Set the controller for the DVD/BluRay drive to IDE mode. If you can't do this without setting the HD controller to IDE also, then just set HD controller to IDE mode in the BIOS, install Windows, then apply this reg hack:

1. Open regedit.exe

2. Uncollapse the registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\servic es\msahci

3. Modify the key “Start” to “0″

Then reboot and enter the BIOS and set HD access mode to AHCI.

The hack enables AHCI support in Windows 7 after the OS has been installed without the BIOS being in AHCI mode.

Are you, by any chance, installing from a USB device?

UEFI mode is under the second to last tab along with other start-up configuration...at least it is on my G53SX, where the default is turned off. Needless to say, I left it that way.

got it, but I Formatted the Partition named OS and now I think I can't recover any more from Default. :( thought it was Ok to do that and can still recover.

is there anyway I can obtain a copy of the Recovery? or will the Service Center give me 1 or just recover it on my system and for Free?

hold down the "p" key, I believe. the recovery partition that ASUS installs is hidden separately. If not, go to another computer and download the Win 7 ISO legally from MS and punch in the activation code on the bottom of your laptop! That way you eliminate all the junkware! Install only what you want and need.
