Where the normal 3.5mm cable would plug into the headset, could I plug in a third party cable instead?

I was thinking of getting a 3 banded cable

(I know that's two)

and adding this to the end

Would I still be able to hear sound/ use the mic?

If there's a proper 3.5mm - dual 3.5mm jack cable, could someone link me it.

3-banded works fine with audio-out, can't verify for audio-in however.

I'm primarily concerned with audio in. If I scrap the 3 bands and go for two, will audio in work then?

Standard microphone works on G53SX, sorry if I misunderstood the question.
