View Full Version : G75 temp and fan

I hear both my fans spinning loud and lots of heat coming from the back right side. What temp should the laptop run at and what is a bad temp? Also how can I check this? This only happens when playing games. The laptop is great its a month old.

Install hwinfo64 and use the sensors to check the temperature and fan speeds ... the G75 has a beastly cooling system and it is supposed to force air out the back when pushing it hard ...

What's normal temp and hi temp or bad temp?

My advice to you is download hwinfo64 just to check if everything is cool on idle. And also make sure to download and install MSI-Afterburner if you are playing alot of games as it allows you to see your temp and gpu usage with an in-game on-screen display just so that you know your in game temps because alot of times after you close the app/game the laptop will cool itself very fast and you will not get an accurate reading of your temps....

For those of you who wanna know correct/safe temps for this system, i can give you a rough idea of how it is on my G75 with ambient room temp of about 20-25degrees:

Idle: 37-45
Watching movies/media: 55
Most games: 68-74
Running games with GPU overclocked (@-720/1650) : 72-76

If your GPU is going over 80degrees you have a problem.. otherwise it should be ok.
Also about the fans, Its normal for them to run at high speeds when gaming and when you close the game/app it sometimes stays on Medium-high speed to cool it down for a little while but should go to low speed itself after a little while so dont be too concerned about that...

My G75 with a 660M runs at around 32-40C while browsing the internet/idling. Upon light gaming it makes it into the 50C zone, and while gaming on high power games, it goes from 65-75. The Processor has similar temperatures. The fan noise should actually be pretty quiet, they did tests and on extreme gaming, the fan noise still should only be barely audible.

Yea that sounds about right.. You can always drill some holes in the back if you want extra coooling

I had to do it because i do some serious overclocking and need it ice cool..

ok, I am somewhat scared about my idle temp. (G75 with 670M)
(Just downloaded and tested "Afterburner")

Its 50-52 while surfing/idling
I made a 5 minutes WOW test with Ultra Settings and the Maximum reached was 71

Well, after the computer was off for like 1 hour, I tried it again. Its on since 15 minutes and is around 40.

In my last test (with the 50), the computer was on like 4 hours, with like 3 hours of gaming. Though it should have been idle for 30 minutes or so.

What is your ambient temp? Mine runs warm compared to others but my ambient temp is around 27C or 78F, Idle temp, IE and outlook running is around 40 to 43 c, 15 minute Furmark got my Graphics 83C CPU to 62C, I don't have any games. BurnIn Test V5.3 with CPU and Memory selected ran my cpu up to 72c at 50% 100% ran me up to 100 C I shut it down after 10 minutes. I'm old and Deaf I don't hear my fans hardly at all. Also My wife who has great hearing has not complained about the fan noise which is coming out the back of this G75 right at her 10' away.

Cant tell atm. I am at work. But I am sure, its not 27C in this room. Its 14 outside.
I might check it at home, later. there should be a room temp of about 21 or 22.

*checks* 42 atm. Wonder why it seemed nailed to 50, few hours ago.

Fanty, yours temps are normal man dw bout it :) It sometimes hits 50ish when idling or browsing because alot of websites now use flash n stuff which is GPU accelerated so it heats up a tiny bit.. When watching movies mine hits like 55 so its all normal..
