Hello there ROG

I just wanted to know how would you react on a case that amd destroyed intel on some benchmarks.

I truly believe that Being an "ROG" means you don't settle for "good" but rather "best of the best",
but i was just in awe of amd, because these is the real budget gaming, the true bang for the buck

The thing is that actually AMD is doing very well with GPUs... but I'm really curious how the 8350 performs in 2D benchmarks... right now, the Intel's flagship 3960k has only 6 cores (not counting here the Xeons) vs the 8 core of the FX-8350...

question, so they are the real matchup? not a10?

If you're only doing ALU, then, yes. But each core is less 'wide' in terms of decode and IPC.

IGP on am M5F? Yeesh. Doubt any M5F owner ever ran their IGP alone :p

Can't fault AMD's prices for their FM2s though! Very nice. Tempted to upgrade my server/HTPC.

I think, the A-series CPUs are meant to be against the Intel's Ivy Bridge... but as I understood the FX-series are the real AMD flagships... - I may be wrong, of course, as I really don't have experience on the AMD side... just based on readings...

hi marshall, can you please further explain i can't seem to understand, thanks in advance :)

ah i get it now, flagships = high ends

8350 is on par with lga 2011 sockets?

Yeap, it's very unlikely that someone would rely only on the IGP (the one built in the CPU)...

Don't know... I actually doubt that will be... it's just the FX-8350 is the AMD's flagship (best) and the i7-3960k is the Intel's best... In 2D applications, where calculating matters, usually the Intel chips are performing better... - now, the question is if the AMD's 8 core can beat the Intel's 6 core?

i haven't owned a real amd chip yet so i am clueless, but based on past benchmarks amd never won. i've red somewhere that its not the number of cores that matters though(will do some serious research later on) it is based on the overall architecture.

You can very easily compare different CPUs on HWBOT... :)

Yes.

I'll try to dig out some graphs and explain the overall parts of a CPU and why they matter soon. Not enough time now sorry - it'll be a long post :O

thanks for the pro-tip zka

@marshall : yey! i'll thank you in advance for making alot of stuffs easier to understand :D
