both my G75's have M4 SSD's for boot drive and WD HDD secondary. BIOS has SATA set to AHCI. i see under device manager MS drivers are actually linked to the hardware and not Intel.

couple of questions,

1. one needs the IRS only if in the BIOS the SATA is set to RAID?
and that has to be done *prior* to OS install?

2. i can remove the Intel IRS drivers in my particular setup?

you should always have IRST installed regardless if you're running RAID or not it installs the SATA controller driver

OK, i got a bit unsure when i saw the drivers are MS signed, though *provided* by Intel. my ver is 11.5.0.1207. runs fine with that ver though i see an update on intel.

appreciate the help, thx

I tend to stick to the drivers from ASUS because I am not a 100% sure that the latest IRST drivers are compatible with a notebook. I always have a fear that they were made for the desktop chipsets

just to be on the safe side you know
