Hello again, everybody.

So, my laptop is finally on its way back to me, and with it a new SSD. I'm totally new to installing new drives in a computer. Any pointers, steps, links to other instructional threads, anything like that, would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, my plan is to use the SSD as my new OS drive, but I'm not sure about how best to format the old HDD that will become my secondary/backup drive. I also am not sure what files will get the most benefit out of being on the SSD and which files will be better off just on the HDD.

Any insight would be invaluable. Thanks, you guys.

Yes. I have the same question. I want to but this : http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/ocz-agility-4-256gb-2.5-inch-solid-state-drive-ssd-sata-iii-agt4-25sat3-256g/AGT4-25SAT3-256G and then install in to my G75vw.

Also, if there is a link on how to install and on configure an SSD that will be great.

Put the SSD where your old HDD was....then put the HDD on the secondary drive and when you turn on the PC and start to instal Win 7 or 8 it will ask you which drive you want to put the OS, make sure you pic the SSD.....then when everything is installed and you can get on "MY COMPUTER" right click the old HDD and click REFORMAT if you want that drive cleaned out.

Just an FYI
You can buy the Samsung 830 256GB for less money right now and it's a better drive than that OCZ

The 830 is price dropping a lot cause 840 Pro comes out next month... but 830 still is better than that OCZ.. 830 can be had for $160-180 depending on coupon sales lately. I snagged 2 for 160 a week ago. I saw a 179 buck coupon for newegg over Halloween.. may still be going.

better performance and better price yes.. and only better price cause the samung 840 pro comes out next month... which will be the new top end ssd on market outside of PCIexpress SSD's... still 830 wil be good and for the current price 160-180 for 256GB of space... is a hell of a deal.

yea dude... halloween (yesterday) newegg has it for 179 with coupon.. they are no no longer having sale... a few other places online with 170-180 prices are sold out too.

like all things in life.. you gotta be ready and aware to buy when things go on sale and jump quick.. it's rare to "need" something and find a great deal.

Having said that... 200 bucks for an 830 is still a great deal compared to that 250+ bucks for that ocz agility 4... same space and more speed.

My advice is.... wait a week or 2... and see if price drops again... 840 pro is coming out right around the corner and prices discounts are popping on on 830's all over.

i would suggest you wait for samsung 840 pro; if you couldn't wait, like what Woots suggested, samsung 830 is the best deal, compared to many others;

I chose spending a few more bucks on my Intel 520 for two reasons. It comes with a whopping 5-year warranty and great software to keep it performing well. However, cheap is always good!

I went with the 830 because based on the reviews, all you really get with the 840 Pro vs. the 830 is higher benchmarks. Essentially, if you can tell the difference between the two, you're trying too hard.

AlanMcKinnon, it's not about the benchmarks. 840 pro has a 5-year warranty, and better hardware specs hehe; nevermind, samsung 830 is still the best deal.

Now that I am getting 830 i found out that I might need extra padding is that true? Do you have 830 installed?

Have a look http://reviews.cnet.com/internal-hard-drives/samsung-830-256gb-ssd/4505-9998_7-35020153.html

there is no such need for extra padding for g55/g75. mine just fits nicely.
