Hey ASUS ROG forum users!

I wanted to make a post to notify everyone about the ASUS ROG sponsored Battle.net World Championship (http://www.battlenet.com.cn/bwc/en/) (BWC) being put on by Blizzard Entertainment next weekend (November 17-18th) in Shanghai, China.

Over the past month or so, ASUS ROG has been putting on numerous contests (all slightly different based on the region they were presented by), but all having the same reward of sending eSports fans on an all-expense paid trip to the BWC. ASUS ROG has also been heavily invested in eSports (and StarCraft 2, one of the two games behind featured at the BWC, alongside World of Warcraft) for some time now. For a brief history of their contributions to eSports/SC2, check out a reddit post (http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/12en80/thank_you_asus_rog_for_sending_me_to_shanghai/) I made. You can also take a quick look through this 'ROG Events and Competitions' section to see how much ASUS has given to competitive gaming.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the extremely lucky contest winners (http://rog.asus.com/168312012/gaming/bwc-esports-fan-win-a-trip-of-a-lifetime-with-rog-blizzard/), meaning I (along with others) will be making the trip from Toronto, Canada to Shanghai, China this Thursday for the event.

I'll be reporting from Shanghai with other contest winners/ASUS ROG representatives and I'll be sure to post links to our pictures/videos in this forum post.

Here's a quick overview of the festivities next weekend and what will be up for grabs:

32 StarCraft 2 finalists
10 WoW player-versus-player teams
$500,000 total in prizes
+ Much more details on the SC2/WoW tournaments and players on the official website (http://www.battlenet.com.cn/bwc/en/).

Players have been battling it out around the world in various stages of qualifiers to earn their spot in Shanghai - so it really is the 'best of the best' that will be there. The schedule can be found HERE (http://www.battlenet.com.cn/bwc/en/schedule/) along with a feature to display it in your time zone, so if you're a SC2/WoW fan, be sure to tune in!

I had the opportunity to head to Singapore and Shanghai recently with the company and had an amazing time at both locations.
In particular, the StarCraft II Tournament final was intense and was one of the major highlights for me personally at the BWC :)

Awesome videos DanK!

I'll also be uploading some pictures of the event to my Facebook page within the next day or two (maybe a couple short videos I made as well). Visiting Shanghai and the BWC was an absolutely amazing experience. Huge thanks to ASUS ROG for this wonderful opportunity, it was definitely a trip of a life time and one I will never forget.

EDIT NOV 24/12:

Here is a link to the pictures I took at the Battle.net World Championships last weekend:

- Hydrolis's photos from the BWC in Shanghai, China (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.338324536265393.72324.337785206319326&type=1&l=4ff085b728)

Here are some pictures of the swag ASUS ROG hooked me (and the other contest winners) up with while in China as well!

I want to take this opportunity to thank ASUS Republic of Gamers for this amazing opportunity to visit Shanghai and attend the BWC. Michael, DanK and the rest of the ASUS ROG team (including MarshallR) took complete care of all of the contest winners while in China. I met many amazing people from all around the world (Finland, France, Australia, Sweden) whom I hope I can encounter again in the future.

The event was absolutely phenomenal, it was a riveting experience and Shanghai as a city is the most beautiful I've ever seen. This trip was not something I would have been able to do if it would not have been for ASUS ROG and their desire to support eSports/competitive gaming. Their products are state of the art and they are better in touch with what gamers really need than any other company out there.

THANK YOU ASUS ROG for making this trip possible - it has really changed my life.

Wow lots of swag :D

Glad you had a great time! Did you get to see much in your extra few days there? Did you manage to grab the maglev back to the airport?? :D:D

Hey guys. Yeah I definitely had a great time there and picked up my fair share of swag! I used the noise cancelling feature on the ROG Vulcan headset during my 14 hour flight home and it was incredible. I managed to see a lot of Shanghai during my extra few days there. If anyone wants to check out some personal pictures I took (not from the BWC, those can be found at www.facebook.com/hydrolis) - but from around Shanghai, go HERE (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151269283773766.491418.516428765&type=1&l=5e4654420f).

I was able to take the MagLev train back to the airport, there's actually pictures of the max speed it reached (301 km/h - WOW) while I was on it. Quite the experience, I was glad I was able to cap off my trip on the MagLev! Much thanks to you MarshallR for the suggestions and setting everything up in regards to the trip.

Lastly, I appeared on eSports Canada TV last night and I discussed my experiences at the Battle.net World Championship. I gave a few shout outs to ASUS ROG as well so if anyone is interested, the link to that (and I set it to start where I start talking about the BWC) is HERE (http://youtu.be/Wt40E9oBYcE?t=39m10s).

Full video (or click the link above to go to the exact time I started talking about the BWC):

Hey ASUS ROG'ers,

So here's the last bit of Battle.net World Championship (BWC) content that I have from Shanghai. It includes 5 videos which I took while at the event and it briefly features appearances from the Swedish and Finnish contest winners (Henry and Kimmo). I've linked all of the videos below for your viewing pleasure! (I apologize for the quality I filmed them on my cellphone; it was the best I could do)!

Remember you can find pictures from the event over at www.facebook.com/hydrolis !

So I stumbled upon this little article about the BWC in a Hong Kong gaming magazine and it actually features a little snippet from myself (where I mention ASUS)! Pretty cool :)

Rough translation:

"Many thanks to ASUS for the invitation for those of us who like the SC2 and eSports players coming to Shanghai, even though I live far in Canada. This is a unforgettable journey as can be seen at the close to the the SC2 world championship finals tour. I have a great weekend, and Shanghai girls is pretty."
