So I'm using the G73sw laptop on my lap and at this angle I notice the sticker area on the palm rest has at least 3 areas where a sticker used to be but was removed.

Is "Certified Design New Revision" code for refurb?

It's possible that Newegg took it as a return from another customer and didn't re-list it as Open Box. It's also possible that someone put the wrong stickers on it for some reason and then removed them. Hard to say :(

It means it's the new revision of the Sandybridge chipset and motherboard, so you know you do not need to replace it.
