Hey Guys,

I have a question that I thought I'd put to the ROC community.

I have an old W2JC laptop that I am converting to use as a HTPC (pretty much client only as I have just built a NAS for all my media).

However connecting it to my TV has left me with only 2.1 channel sound. I'd like a HDMI out port and was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my GPU/CPU(not sure which would be needed to do) so that the mini-dvi port becomes a HDMI port.

I was really hoping that someone with a lot more knowledge on laptops would know if this was possible.

Here's the manual which shows it should be easy to do the CPU given there's an access panel but not 100% as I've never opened it to look in.

Cheers in advance.

is that a express card to hdmi adapter? You know I have never even used that slot as I've never really known what for?

I assume that would actually give me the hdmi out I'm looking for?

Yes it is. It s the mini pcie slot, which holds your wifi card.

wow. I think that could definitely be the easiest solution. I'll do a few searches to see what i can come up with. I'm not sure what the different options were in that link you sent. But if one is literrally plugging in a hdmi out port (so to speak) it's great.

thasnk loads.

So I have done a little bit of research on the PE4H adapter and to be honest i'm a bit confused. Would this allow me to connect to n external gpu?

Yes you can connect a GPU externally.
