Hello everyone,

New to the family just bought G55VW 3 days ago. Buy it at LOWYAT (Malaysia). It's a great laptop. Work way more monsterous than my previous Acer Aspire V3-471G. So happy with this lappy performance. So I'm going to have a little question for GTX660M gamers out there (actually ALOT). Just want to confirm and compare.

*Edited
Q1 - What OS did u use, Win 7 or Win 8? Tell your opinion on each OS performance.
Q2 - Share ur OC scores. Saw many post in this forum, people go for +135/+300ish
Q3 - Share your gaming settings and results (Game settings/Average FPS). Preferably this game (Crysis2/BF3/MOHW/ACIII/Hitman Absolution/FarCry 3/Borderlands2/BatmanAC/NFSMW2012)
Q4 - What is your max/average temperature for gaming?
Q5 - Do SSD only boost loading of the games? and not the performance/fps?

I think that's it. Sorry if it's too much question >.<
TQ for your time if you replied to this thread to clears up some of my doubts. Cheers ^_^

I'm not a gamer, but here goes:
1) Win 7 has more mature drivers and a UI I like better. Win 8 uses less RAM, starts quicker, and when drivers mature will likely be faster. Not to mention that future versions of DX are reported to be Win 8 only.
3) I don't OC my laptop, it doesn't help enough (G53SX 560M). If you want more power, I'd advise a desktop.
2) The latest from the nVidia site, ASUS updates their drivers once or twice a year, nVidia does theirs about every month and a half.
4) N/A - Not a gamer.
5) 55-60C under LINUX when the GPU is running full bore. CPU I don't know about. The G-series cooling is awesome.
6) N/A - Never used FRAPS.
7) Probably very little, I know they don't allow us to configure memory timings or things like that.
8) UEFI is the new boot system, meant to allow things such as booting from partitions >2 TB :), more than 5 main partitions on a drive :), as well as other smaller enhancements I can't remember. Win 8 supports it better, as does LINUX.
9) SSDs are way faster, just look at the benchmarks. I don't have one, but my hybrid drive is still crazy fast. :)

Glad to help where I can! :)

Thanks for the reply buddy xD. Wow 55-60 nice temp...I got 75-80c on gaming (OCed) and 67-72c (Non OC)..still preety normal temp right? what is the dangerous temp for GPU...like 90-100?

67-72 C is good. 80C is pushing it, and 85-90+ is cause for concern. The thermal shutoff is usually 100C.

Glad it helps! :)

Oh yea...does G55 cooling system different from G75? Lot of users in this forum never reach 60c with G75...

The G55 has a 660M, which is the newer (read cooler) chip design. It is somewhat cooler than the older 670M (the 670M is a rebadged 570M), but also not near as fast. Both cooling systems are good.

Are you sure that they are being totally honest? That is, are they turning something off that you don't see? Also, are they OC'ing their GPU or running it on a G75 with a 670M?

This guy settings, OCed GPU, 1080p/Custom Ultra/NO AA/NO HBAO = 35-45fps
I followed his settings and OCed my GPU...I get similar fps.

But not this one. No oc i think. 1080p/Custom Medium/No Blur/No HBAO = 60fps
Followed his settings with OCed GPU and I only get 35-45fps. Not sure why maybe becoz he plays multiplayer and I tested it on campaign.

People tend to lie about their fps. lol He is probably getting lower then 60 and on top of that he is playing TDM which is on smaller maps and generally smaller playercounts so basically he is playing in 'optimal conditions' if it was conquest 64 on gulf of oman his FPS would be drastically different. :)
