Silly maybe , but with the HDMI can I hook this badboy up to my Onkyo 706 and just play Itunes , whatever . Im thinking not but ...

Sure... the HDMI Out supports 1.4, and up to 7.1 Surround output, so you can use that Onkyo to full effect. Basically, your laptop can be a Home Theatre PC no problem.

I myself use PowerDVD 10 Ultra for BluRay playback over HDMI with HD Audio output. I use Foobar2000 for music, and let my receiver do the upmixing for surround, and MPC-HC for everything else.. So go ahead and go for it.

Thats great news , thanks for the reply. I just finished complete basement reno with home theater , bar etc . So its all setup ready to go !
