My laptop (full name: g53sw-ix181v) has display issues. At first it was flickering between wrong and right, but now it's always wrong (green on some colors).
What I know:
- HDMI works fine.
- either on battery or AC, problem persists.
- Not a OS related problem: picture shown is at boot. Then it continues on Windows or OSX (I have dual boot with Chameleon)

Help would be greatly appreciated.

If you attach an external monitor or HDTV to your laptop, does it also display the problem video behavior? If so, I'd be tempted to install NVIDIA driver version 306.97 or 310.54 BETA from Windows Safe Mode, choosing a 'clean' NVIDIA install.

However, since it also occurs under OSX, I suspect the external monitor will NOT display the problem video behavior and you are looking at a poorly-connected or defective LVDS cable.

both HDMI and external monitor (analog connection) work fine.
I guess it's either the LCD or the LVDS connector.
Anybody has a guide on how to reseat the connector on G53SW? I've done it on my other G71 but it's a lot simpler to reach it.
thanks

I bought it june 2011 + warranty says 12M + Problems started September 2012 = I'm on my own.... it sucks. More over, I'm in south america, very far away from any "Asus Center".
And flickering / "faulty display of colors" happens only on LCD (both HDMI and external VGA work fine when mirroring).
I did disassemble the whole thing only to realize that the LVDS connectors where properly seated. My conclusion is that either LCD or LVDS cable are broken.
